Back in 1990 I came to Jesus and went to an Assemblies of God church from a Lutheran background. It was a culture shock for me and I gradually got used to it once I understood what was going on. Yet something still always bothers me and it is the worship part of pentecostals.
Pentecostals have this thing that they think you have to be loud and noisy when it comes to worship and your body language should reflect it to a point or you can be seen as unspiritual. If a person is very quiet and not necessarily singing alot and doing some kind of outwards manifestation then they are assumed to be dead or full of sin or unrepented sin because a person should be full of joy and that joy should be reflected in worship. A person should be moving in worship.
Why can't pentecostals accept that some people do not worship in that way and many times it is in the silence in which God speaks. Many times Noise drowns out the Voice of God while in the midst of Pentecostal worship.
I went to Pentecostal churches for 8 years and even spent educational time through the Rodney Howard Browne stuff and this is one of my reflections within the sect. To be emotional is one thing but to allow those emotions to be God and dictate to you is quite another deal.
I would like to hear some opinions on this.
