Robert E Lee statue removed from Monument Avenue in Richmond VA

Why not:
There would be no KKK, and Jim Crow laws if not for you and your fellow Americans. Good job haters

or:
There would be no KKK, and Jim Crow laws if not for you and your fellow Southerners. Good job haters

or:
There would be no KKK, and Jim Crow laws if not for you and your fellow right-wingers. Good job haters

The reason you people just repeat the same, tired, old trolls is you have nothing else. Every person here knows, full well, that if they see someone waving a Confederate flag, or defending Robert E. Lee, that person will be a right-winger.

So I guess I will repeat my standard question/observation: are you people totally incapable of debating in good faith?
Not to mention that so many right-wingers forget that it was conservatives who started jim crow and the KKK. They love to deny this and insinuate that the CONSERVATIVE Democratic party of the past is the same as the modern LIBERAL Democratic party.

You're thoroughly hoodwinked by the Left.

Face it. You and your party are responsible for the racism in this country. You gave us the KkK, Jim Crow laws and you even had a member of the kkk as your Senate Majority Leader. Good job.

The KKK was founded and populated by CONSERVATIVES. CONSERVATIVES are to blame for its existence. In the past the majority of CONSERVATIVES were Democrats... today the majority of CONSERVATIVES are Republican.
Democrats right? Lets hear it.

Democrats right? Lets hear it.
Which party put up statues of the first KKK Grand Wizard and slave trader, Nathan Bedford Forrest, and named cities, counties and schools after him? There are more monuments to Forrest in Memphis than for the 3 Presidents who came from Tennessee, combined.

And which party is fighting against removing those honors from him?

As people keep pointing out, the Democratic Party of the past was the party of choice for conservative segregationists, but those people are now Republicans. It is Republican conservatives who wave Confederate flags and who value monuments to Confederate leaders and to KKK leaders like Forrest. Why is it taking so long to remove Forrest's name and image from public places? Republicans.

Democrats put up statutes of their racist heros. Now they want to remove or whitewash their disgusting racist history. Shame on you. Turn in your official Democrat issued white hood.

There is no 'democratic party of the past'. The democrat party didn't magically change and 'switch' like you guys love to claim. The last KKK member to be elected to national office was a Democrat, one who was praised and euologized when he died, by the current president.

So the question for all those who wish the statue of Lee removed, is would you have a statue of Joe Johnstone the Confederate general, if the inscription described his forgiveness and reconciliation?

Yup. Statues commemorating traitors have no place in the US.

Actually there was a huge shift during the civil rights era when racist/segregationists Democrats left that party initially to become Dixiecrats and then moved to the GOP where they were courted by the Southern Strategy.

LBJ noted that after the Civil Rights and Voting Rights bills were passed that the Democratic Party would lose the South for a generation. He was right except it has been longer than a generation.

Those statues of Forrest and the cities, counties and schools named after him are in conservative Tennessee, which is a GOP stronghold. And it is the Republicans that have been resistant to removing those honors from Forrest, just as it is conservative Republicans who fly the Confederate flag and who celebrate the birthday of Robert E Lee on the birthday of MLK and who object to removal of statues that honor Confederate traitors and who object to voting rights for all.

This reconfiguration of the two parties has long been noticed by black people who now vote Dem.

The last KKK member of Congress was indeed a Dem who regretted his past association with the KKK and apologized.

Why have a statue of a Confederate general? Information about his life can be recorded in history books and museums, but statues should be reserved for people who made major positive contributions. Someone who led forces against the USA and then later had some regrets does not qualify.

That Democrats have mastered hiding their racism (and in many cases shifted their racism to whites as well as blacks), does not magically make your mythical 'party switch' a reality. And actual, honest look, shows no party switch took place. The south wasn't even largely republican until the NINETIES.

Seriously, Dinesh D'Souza?
Why am I not surprised that you would cite two highly conservative partisans, given your obvious leanings.

The Southern Strategy was a real thing, and it cannot be argued that the South is not currently highly conservative and Republican, whereas it used to be highly conservative and Democrat. The racism and segregationist tendencies are still obviously there along with nostalgia for the Confederacy and reverence for Confederate leadership.

So you got nothing but well poisoning attempts? When you can't show what he got wrong, you resort to personal attacks.

Why am i not surprised that you would follow up an inability to refute anything that was said, with yet another tired lie about me?

The Southern Strategy was a real thing (yet Nixon never even mentioned race, interesting....). Yet if there were the switch that you claims, Republicans would have had control of the south long before the 90s
