Synergism the biblical model

Read your church history and find its origin- augustine via gnosticism/pagainism.

oops

The belief began to emerge in the 3rd century, but only became fully formed with the writings of Augustine of Hippo (354–430), who was the first author to use the phrase "original sin" (Latin: peccatum originale).[2][3] Influenced by Augustine, the councils of Carthage (411–418 CE) and Orange (529 CE) brought theological speculation about original sin into the official lexicon of the Church.[4]

Protestant reformers such as Martin Luther and John Calvin equated original sin with concupiscence (or "hurtful desire"), affirming that it persisted even after baptism and completely destroyed freedom to do good, proposing that original sin involved a loss of free will except to sin.[5] The Jansenist movement, which the Roman Catholic Church declared heretical in 1653, also maintained that original sin destroyed freedom of will.[6] Instead, the Catholic Church declares that "Baptism, by imparting the life of Christ's grace, erases original sin and turns a man back towards God, but the consequences for nature, weakened and inclined to evil, persist in man and summon him to spiritual battle",[7] and that "weakened and diminished by Adam's fall, free will is yet not destroyed in the race."[8] wikipedia.

Nothing about Gnostics in there. What else do you have?

Opps

Another Pelagian failure

Augustine once believed the truth then became apostate. Synergism and free will was what the early church affirmed until augustine came on the scene. They also denied total inability as well until he brought in the gnostic heresy of original sin.

So you're back to Calvinists aren't saved?

This is history above ☝️

To reinforce your comments from the Greek NT side:

1 Cor 3:9 "For of God we are fellow-workers (συνεργοί· Θεοῦ), a field of God, and you are a building of God."

συνεργοί· Θεοῦ means God's synergistic fellow-workers/co-workers. No monergism here.

Mark 16:20 "And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them (τοῦ Κυρίου συνεργοῦντος) and confirmed the message by accompanying signs."

τοῦ Κυρίου συνεργοῦντος means our Lord's synergistic fellow-workers/co-workers. Monergism is out the window here also.

BTW, that's why Calvinistic Monergism has made no inroads in Greece, because it not only clashes with the Greek NT but it clashes with the Greek language also!
Yes I especially agree with this statement :

Focus on what I underlined in your comments above.

1 Cor 3:9 "For of God we are fellow-workers (συνεργοί· Θεοῦ), a field of God, and you are a building of God."

συνεργοί· Θεοῦ translates to God's synergistic fellow-workers/co-workers. Therefore, monergism is rendered a false doctrine.
Yes I agree synergism is correct and the other is false. Amen !

From Got questions it seems to be popular these days with many calvinists on carm.

"Synergism can be inferred from several passages in Scripture. Of particular importance are statements such as Matthew 23:37 and John 5:39–40. These are clear indications by Jesus Christ that there is some sense in which a person can be held responsible for resisting the Holy Spirit or refusing salvation. Looking at these verses—and only these verses—

Yes, because rejecting God entails unbelief and unbelief is a separation from God. So, their punishment is immediate and eternal as long as they disbelieve God, because one can't see how and why God is God until they believe He is reality.

By faith Enoch was translated -- not to see death, and was not found, because God did translate him; for before his translation he had been testified to -- that he had pleased God well, and apart from faith it is impossible to please well, for it behoveth him who is coming to God to believe that He is, and to those seeking Him He becometh a rewarder. (Hebrews 11:5-6)

it would seem clear that salvation is accomplished by a combined force: a syn-ergon. God and man, it follows, must harmonize in order for one to be saved.

But if belief is a gift of God and it is the free action of God that saves man, then sanctification is believing in accordance with God. But really, if belief originated in and with God, then salvation must be of God and not man. It is the means by which God creates His children in His image.

Likewise, 1 Timothy 2:3–4 and 2 Peter 3:9 would seem to indicate that God at least “allows” some to be lost, despite His desire that “all” be saved. The idea of an invitation—something to be accepted or rejected—is prevalent in the New Testament, including verses such as Revelation 22:17, John 4:10, John 6:44, 1 Peter 2:7, and Matthew 22:1–14. Given those Scriptures, it is clear the idea of human culpability in salvation cannot be entirely dismissed. "

"In support of the synergistic argument, let’s turn our attention to the Five Articles of the Remonstrance: “That God, by an eternal and unchangeable purpose in Jesus Christ his Son, before the foundation of the world, hath determined, out of the fallen, sinful race of men, to save in Christ, for Christ’s sake, and through Christ, those who, through the grace of the Holy Ghost, shall believe on this his son Jesus, and shall persevere in this faith and obedience of faith, through this grace, even to the end; and, on the other hand, to leave the incorrigible and unbelieving in sin and under wrath, and to condemn them as alienate from Christ, according to the word of the Gospel in John 3:36: ‘He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him,’ and according to other passages of Scripture also” (FAR, Article I, emphasis added). Here we see that salvation is conditional upon the faith and perseverance of the individual. What conditional election does is place the determining factor of our salvation squarely upon us, on our ability to choose Jesus and remain in Him. Now Arminians will claim that our ability to choose Jesus is the result of a universal grace that God first gives to all people that offsets the effects of the fall and allows man to choose to accept or reject Christ. In other words, God must do something to even make the choice of salvation possible, but in the end it is our choice which saves us. The Scripture reference that Article I supplies certainly affirms that those who believe have eternal life and that those who reject do not have eternal life, so it would seem there is some scriptural support for this doctrine. Thus, the synergistic argument claims that God makes salvation possible, but it is our choice that makes salvation actual."

Actually it is all conditioned on something that originated in and with what God did and does first and not us. And the Holy Spirit influences what a believer believes and guides the believer to "all truth" and the will of God.

Jesus endorses synergism below . In parenthesis is the Calvinists version ( spin ) of the meaning they read into the text with their presuppositional eisegesis .

Luke 7:50
And he said to the woman, Thy faith ( I have given you )hath saved thee; go in peace.

Luke 8:48
"Daughter," said Jesus, "your faith ( I have given you )has healed you. Go in peace."

Luke 17:19
Then Jesus said to him, "Rise and go; your faith( I have given you ) has made you well!"

Luke 18:42
"Receive your sight!" Jesus replied. "Your faith( I have give you ) has healed you."

Matthew 8:13
Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go! As you have believed, so will it be done for you." And his servant was healed at that very hour.

Matthew 9:2
Just then some men brought to Him a paralytic lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, "Take courage, son; your sins are forgiven.

Matthew 9:22
Jesus turned and saw her. "Take courage, daughter," He said, "your faith has healed you." And the woman was cured from that very hour.

Matthew 9:29
Then He touched their eyes and said, "According to your faith will it be done to you."

So does the RCC. Think about it. Say 10 Hail Mary's and get back to us.

I’m talking about saving faith in Jesus teaching but nice side tracking , not .

hope this helps !!!
No sidetracked. You claimed to be a synergistic. So is the RCC. You agree with them. You have swam back across the Tiber. Good one.
