how does one "Come unto Christ" by obedience to all his laws and commandments...
That's simply not Biblcal.
John 6:44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.
a word we hardly ever see Christians acknowledge "obedience" versus Save by Faith Alone.
We talk about it all the time.
You're simply not listening.
We are not saved by any "works" or "obedience" we do:
Eph. 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
2Tim. 1:9 who saved us and called us to a holy calling,
not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began,
Titus 3:5 he saved us,
not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,
Rom. 4:1 What then shall we say was gained by Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh?
2 For if Abraham was
justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God.
3 For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.”
4 Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due.
5 And
to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly,
his faith is counted as righteousness, 6 just as David also speaks of the blessing of the one to whom
God counts righteousness apart from works:
Rom. 9:11 though they
were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad—in order that God’s purpose of election might continue,
not because of works but because of him who calls—
12 she was told, “The older will serve the younger.”
13 As it is written, “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”
Rom. 11:5 So too at the present time there is a remnant, chosen by grace.
6 But if it is by grace, it is n
o longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace.
Obedience comes AFTER salvation, not prior to it:
Eph. 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
10 For we are his workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Phil. 2:12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling,
13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
Obedience! our willingness to obey Heavenly Father's commandments.
Then you must have much to boast about.
