You do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask with evil motives so that you may expend it on your worldly desires.
James 4:2-3
Whatever we ask we receive from Him because we keep His commands and do the things that are pleasing in His sight.
1 John 3:22
This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
1 John 5:14
Are you asking for what God wants or what you want?
God is not Santa Claus.
If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his soul will lose it but whoever loses his soul for my sake will find it. Matthew 16:24-25
Asking God for what you want for yourself is not denying yourself and denying what you want nor will it amount to seeking God's will and what He wants. It is focusing on yourself and what you want, your own will. But He is Spirit and you are flesh and the flesh is hostile to God and does not submit to the will of God seeking rather to serve itself. And that is why you must deny yourself to rather do God's will.
Your prayers go unanswered and you do not receive because you aren't trusting God and His will so you do not bother to seek His will but you ask for what you yourself want because you trust in yourself and your will instead. And that is why you pray for what you want rather than to hear what God wants.
God is not Santa Claus. And God is not your servant who responds to your personal wants and desires. You are to be His servant responding to His desires, not the other way around.
Your prayers go unanswered and you do not receive because you refuse to trust that what God wants rather than what you want is the way to life. And so you trust rather in yourself by asking for what you want, what you will, because that is more important to you than the will of God.
And there will always be those who willfully deceive themselves, those who delude themselves into believing their own will and what they want for themselves just happens to be God's will. They refuse to deny themselves and refuse to lose their soul to save it.
This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
