     Prayers to Mary

Christ says, "I am the light of the world (John 8:12)." Lighting a candle symbolizes Christ bringing light to the darkness.

    Benefits of Marriage

Not at all. Any married man can become a priest in the Orthodox faith. The only exception are for those who are ordained single. I would guess that 90% or more priests in the Orthodox faith are married. Also, those who are tonsured as monks are not allowed to marry. With the exception of monks...

    Benefits of Marriage

This is not true. In the Eastern Churches, both Orthodox and Catholic, married clergy is actually the norm. As an Eastern Orthodox Christian, I am a firm believer in married clergy, again, that's the norm. My priest has 5 kids. I'm not sure why the Roman Church did away with it?

I'm pretty sure that is the one. It speaks of women covering their heads. Ask these protestant women if they cover their heads, I mean, the St Paul says that they must and the Bible is the final authority, right?

I was reading through some of the posts on the Catholic thread. When they speak about the Scriptures being the "final" authority you should as if any of the women in the thread cover their heads at Church. lol

     The Roman Catholic faith

Just to make sure, I'm not Catholic. As an Orthodox Christian, I have my concerns about Eastern Catholics and their communion with Rome.

     The Roman Catholic faith

There are actually Catholic Churches that are Eastern. The Catholic Church actually consists of 24 Churches, the Church of Rome being the largest. The other 23 Churches are Eastern. They follow a completely different Liturgy and liturgical cycle. The Melkite Greek Catholic Church for example...

Pope formally approves blessing of Same Sex Relationships

To my Roman Catholic brethren, What are your thoughts on this: I've seen posters say that the document does not say anything about blessing same-sex unions, only couples and I must admit, I have not read the document. I think Fr Josiah, for those that do not know he is an Orthodox priest...

Are the RCC pedophilia scandals winding down yet?

I understand what you are saying and I am not justifying in anyway the actions of the RCC and how all the abuse was swept under the rug. I just made the comment that this tragedy is much deeper than the RCC. Church discipline is necessary, I agree, and when this particular sin comes from the...

Are the RCC pedophilia scandals winding down yet?

I was not at all justifying what RC clergy have done (I also added that the Orthodox are not immune to this tragic situation). I'd like to see where I did justify the actions of the RCC or their clergy?

Are the RCC pedophilia scandals winding down yet?

Agreed The SBC, the largest Protestant denomination in the US covered up sexual abuse. Just to be sure, I'm not saying that there was no cover up in the Roman Catholic Church. There was obviously years of it.

Are the RCC pedophilia scandals winding down yet?

I'm not supporting them. I'm saying this is a gruesome circumstance due to the fall of man and even more unfortunately, its not just a Roman Catholic problem. There was a cover-up within the SBC, the largest Protestant Christian denomination in the US.

Are the RCC pedophilia scandals winding down yet?

Not at all. It's just an unfortunate reality. Happens in the Orthodox Church as well.

I'm sure its just as bad as what has happened in the Southern Baptist Church.
