     Question for Catholics and ex-Catholics....

Homilies reference the theme of the readings/psalm/Gospel which are read in every Catholic Church in the world any given Sunday. The Vatican Dicastery of Divine Worship has provided guidelines for local Priests to fashion their homily around according to the theme of that Sunday.

Question about a Catholic Media Outlet

It's a legit Catholic site and has won Catholic press awards over the years. Because it was condemned by the local Bishop nearly 60's ago, that is often cited against it's reputation. NCR presents the voice of Catholic social justice and Pope Francis' pastoral mission.

LGBTQ "mass" at world youth day disrupted by traditional Catholics.

When Catholics on the forum are allowed to post video links as well I'll watch nonCC's videos.

I'm not claiming it does. Like class distinctions where the poor are suppressed for the sake of the rich. Where foreigners are suppressed and unwelcomed in society. Where the disabled are left on their own to deal with their own issues. The 'we' are Christians who have been at the forefront of...

Apologetics in this Catholic sub forum

This is what I mean. Why is it necessary to insult Catholics if your arguments are sound? But irony seems to abound in place of good apologetics. It's a shame in my opinion.

Apologetics in this Catholic sub forum

My wish as a forum participant is could we try and keep within the boundaries of apologetics in this subforum so that lively debate thrives. It seems that invective has overtaken of late.

Consider 2 denominations with differing doctrines. Both say they are right because 'Scripture says so'. What would make one right and one wrong?

The condition, whatever its genesis, has caused people to take their own lives in the past and to struggle alone in silence. The Christian community has always stood out from secular/atheistic attitudes that have favored society for only some while suppressing others so why would we do that?

LGBTQ "mass" at world youth day disrupted by traditional Catholics.

There is a Mass for "ad postulandam continentiam" ie Chastity of the heart. A Mass for the gift of self restraint. But we have specialised groups and Masses for lots of groups that experience discrimination and persecution in the world. Women, ethnicities, disabled, mental illness/addiction.

If Christ wanted us to be like your Fred Phelps's He would have modelled that for us.

LGBTQ "mass" at world youth day disrupted by traditional Catholics.

You must surely know of people who shamelessly fornicated and lived in sexual relationships outside marriage even if you yourself have never done so. You also must know of people who indulge in reviling others for their religious beliefs, political persuasions, etc. What about people that get...

People are welcome to come close to Christ even when struggling with sin. Your idealised version of sinners as already having left behind all their struggles to be part of the rest of us 'who are close to perfect in every way' isn't Scriptural. Scripture is quiet on what Jesus talked about...

Be honest. Do you reject people from your presence who are fornicating (unmarried and sexually active) or who revile against someone or some group on a consistent basis or get drunk? Do you reject them from your life?

LGBTQ "mass" at world youth day disrupted by traditional Catholics.

The Catholic Church regards human dignity as precious since we are made in the image of God and that warrants the interest in the life of humans as we know it. As I've stated earlier in the thread, we know a lot more now about the effect of addiction and the effect of biological factors in the...

Because humans are involved there'll be glitches and need for renewal but you can't think that ditching the collective wisdom and study from the past will result in sound practice today? Would you trust you health to any old person who said they knew what to do?

Clement of Rome “Let us therefore join with those to whom grace is given by God. Let us clothe ourselves in concord, being humble and self- controlled, keeping ourselves far from all backbiting and slander, being justified by works and not by words….Why was our Father Abraham blessed? Was it not...

     Roman Catholic Interpretation

No 'first principles' don't change. They remain foundation building blocks for what follows. They develop and are applied differently according to the needs of the times, but just like Scripture, first principles never change.

     Roman Catholic Interpretation

I assume you are talking about Diocletians edict against Christianity in 303AD. But which Christians are you talking about because we know that there were lots of Christians using the same Scriptures with different interpretations. ie Arius, the Docetists, Nestorius. They also had followers...

     Roman Catholic Interpretation

For example James 2:14 -> is as clear as the nose on your face. Faith isn't saving faith without works but you would disagree with that interpretation right?
