I agree that the question is not about logic; the last line of your post referenced the kind of logic I was pointing to.

It took me a lot of prayerful consideration to see the logic in your thesis. There’s a simple, lazy elegance to the “heart of the earth” = “the grave” argument that makes it hard to shake the tradition.
