13 Bible Verses That Teach The Bible Is The Word Of God

We Bible believing Christians are already convinced that the Bible
is the word of God, but it is comforting to have a list of Bible verses
that confirm our faith-based belief that the Bible is God-breathed,
that is to say the Bible is inspired by the supernatural power of the
Holy Spirit.

Says Mr. Rong-Rong-Wrong Jr:

“The Bible is not the word of God but the words of men who claim they
were inspired by God to write the Biblical books.”____Mr. Rong-Rong Wrong Jr.

That up there is False, Mr. Rong-Rong Wrong Jr.
The Bible is the word of God.
Here below are some Bible verses that teach that the Bible is the word of God.

1 Peter 1:23-25
"For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable,
through the living and enduring word of God. For, “All people are like grass,
and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the
flowers fall, but the word of the LORD endures forever.” And this is the
word that was preached to you."

JAG Note: Here Peter says that the word that was preached to his listeners
{and perhaps readers} was the word of the LORD.

_______________

1 Thessalonians 2:13
"And we also thank God continually because, when you received the
word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human
word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in
you who believe."

JAG Note: This is a clear and bold affirmation from the Apostle Paul that
the message of the Apostles is the word of God.

__________

2 Peter 3:16
"He {Paul} writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these
matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand,
which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures,
to their own destruction."

JAG Note: Here Peter seems to be thinking of Paul's writings as also being
the Holy "Scriptures." And now some 200 years later we KNOW that they
are.

___________

Acts 17:11
"Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than
those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with
great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to
see if what Paul said was true."

JAG Note: The writer of Acts views the Scriptures as having
authority to settle questions about doctrinal issues.

____________

Colossians 3:16
"Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach
and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms,
hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude
in your hearts."

JAG Note: The “message of Christ” is found in God’s word the
Bible and especially found in the New testament.

__________

Hebrews 4:12
"For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged
sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow;
it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."

________

Isaiah 55:11
"So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."

________

John 5:39-40
"You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have
eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse
to come to me to have life."

JAG Note: Here the Lord Jesus says that the Old Testament Scriptures testify
about Him.

___________

Luke 24:44-49
"He said to them, This is what I told you while I was still with you:
Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law
of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms. Then he opened their
minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them,
This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the
dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins
will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
You are witnesses of these things. I am going to send you what my
Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed
with power from on high."

JAG Note:
{1} The Lord Jesus here presents the Scriptures as having authority.
{2} Also notice "the forgiveness of sins will preached in his name to all nations"
So? So you can connect Luke 24:44-49 with the Lord Jesus' Great Commission
in Matthew 28:16-20 "go and make disciples of all nations"

___________

Matthew 4: 4
"Jesus answered, It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone,
but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."

JAG Note: See the whole passage Matthew 4:1 -11 for 2
more references to "it is written" that is, written in the Holy Scriptures.
_______

Revelation 1: 1- 3
"The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his
servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending
his angel to his servant John, who testifies to everything he saw—that
is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. Blessed is the one
who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who
hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near."

_______

Romans 10:17
"Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and
the message is heard through the word of Christ."

________

2 Timothy 3:14-17
"But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have
become convinced of, because you know those from whom
you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy
Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation
through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed
and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training
in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be
thoroughly equipped for every good work."

JAG Note:
Note the particulars from 2 Timothy 3:14-17
{1} Timothy knew the Scriptures when he was young
{2} the Scriptures were Holy
{3} they were able to make Timothy wise
{4} wise for salvation
{5} salvation through faith in Christ Jesus
{6} the Scriptures are God-breathed
{7} all of them are God-breathed {not just some of them}
{8} the Scriptures are useful for:
~ teaching
~ rebuking
~ correcting
~ training in righteousness
{9} so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped {100%}
{10} for every good work {not just some good works}

The enemies of Faith have concocted and invented names for their
ideas designed to shut down and stop the presentation of Bible based
truths -- one such concoction and invention is what they call the
"circular reasoning fallacy." They say you cannot use the Bible to
prove the Bible is true because we say you doing that is the "circular
reasoning fallacy."

My reply to that is this: The word of God trumps the concoctions
and inventions of mere men and the word of God says that "all
Scripture is God-breathed" which means all Scripture is inspired
by the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit.

If we Christians took seriously the concoctions and inventions of
mere men on their "no circular reasoning" is allowed that would
mean we would not even be able to present John 3:16 without
first presenting Empirical Evidences demonstrating that John 3:16 is
true -- Empirical Evidences that personally satisfied them.

I can assure you that Christendom will NEVER bend the knee to the whims
and biases and prejudices of the enemies of Christianity and we will continue
to present the truth of John 3:16 and other Bible truths based upon what the
Bible says and we will continue to do that regardless of what is said by the
enemies of Christianity in posts here inside Thread World on the Internet At
Large.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever
believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his
Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe
stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of
God's one and only Son. John3:16-18

John 3:16
{1} believe and get Eternal Life
{2} refuse to believe and perish

I just start taking Carm online school of apologetics, lesson 01.02 is "Is The Bible Reliable".

So I appreciate your OP and I intend to read it and meditate on it thanks for taking the time to make it. Hopefully after I learned a thing or two I will be able to share something here. It looks really interesting so far. Your next post after this one looks pretty good also that circular fallacy thing.

Redeemed,

Thank you for reading my OP and thank you for your kind remarks
and for making a positive contribution to the thread -- much
appreciated.

Regarding my post on the so-called "circular reasoning" fallacy:
Here is what I have found to be true after decades on the
worldwide web. Activist thread-atheists will do all they can to
"shut down" and/or ridicule the presentation of Bible truths --
and they have a plan to get that done:

Plan # 1 is to intimidate you to NOT post Bible verses as your
proof to back up your propositions.

Plan # 2 is to DEMAND that you supply Empirical proof and evidences
to prove your Christian propositions.

Plan # 3 is to ALWAYS declare whatever evidence you present to be
insufficient to prove your Christian propositions.

Net results? The net results is no matter what you present to activist thread atheists
they will ALWAYS tell you that you have failed to provide sufficient evidences to support
your Christian propositions.

My view is that if you allow them to "jerk you around" with the above impossible
situation, they will do exactly that.

_____________

I hope you enjoy your CARM Apologetics course, I am sure it will be a great blessing
to you.

Best Regards.

"THE" Bible cannot even refer to ITself. "THE" Bible is a collected canon of books compiled into a single book. There was no such thing when the Scriptures were written. The CONTENTS of your Bible might refer to "the Scriptures" which just means "the writings." But that doesn't amount to a particular "thing" called "THE" Bible. It only amounts to a reference to a undefined set of writings.

Even further, if you actually read your Bible, the word of God is not the Bible, or Scriptures. It is something else. What is astonishing here is that the Bible TELLS YOU this.

Incorrect.
2 Timothy 3:13-17 refers specifically to the Old Testament scriptures
and the principle of "God-breathed" inspiration applies also to the New
Testament Scriptures. The orthodox segment of Christendom believes in
the inspiration {"God-breathed"} of the 66 books of the Biblical canon
and there 'is nothing you can say, think, or do to change this belief.
Orthodox Christendom believes the Providence of God had a strong
hand in the formation of the Biblical canon, which means we believe
that God in His Sovereignty gave us the 66 books of the Biblical canon.

You can believe whatever you want to believe, you will NOT make even
so much as a slight dent in the orthodox view of Holy Scripture.

How many books does 2 Tim refer to?

and the principle of "God-breathed" inspiration applies also to the New
Testament Scriptures. The orthodox segment of Christendom believes in
the inspiration {"God-breathed"} of the 66 books of the Biblical canon
and there 'is nothing you can say, think, or do to change this belief.

Where is your evidence that God chose 66 books to be in a Bible?

Orthodox Christendom believes the Providence of God had a strong
hand in the formation of the Biblical canon, which means we believe
that God in His Sovereignty gave us the 66 books of the Biblical canon.

You can believe whatever you want to believe, you will NOT make even
so much as a slight dent in the orthodox view of Holy Scripture.

But as for you, continue in what you have

Believe whatever you want to believe.
I will admit there is no specific Empirical proof that can demonstrate
the truth of what I believe about the 66 books of the Protestant Bible.
This below is what I believe by faith , , ,

I wrote this OP mostly for Christians.

Sharper than any double-edged
sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow;
it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."

{7} all of them are God-breathed {not just some of them}
{8} the Scriptures are useful for:
~ teaching
~ rebuking
~ correcting
~ training in righteousness
{9} so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped {100%}
{10} for every good work {not just some good works}

___________

Note to Christians:
Can you think of other Bible verses to add to the above?
If so, please post them
Can you think of a theological point that would add to this subject.
If so, please post that point.
Your effort might be a blessing to some future reader.
Many thanks.

Your post is unclear.
First, your post is not a properly constructed English sentence -- what does
"But if you believe something that doesn't even meet your own standard
of belief blanks anyone suppose to take you seriously?" mean?

Second, my beliefs DO meet the standard of my beliefs.

There are a significant number of people who claim
to be Christians who do not believe the Bible is true.
We have a name for some of them -- we call them
Theological Liberals -- some of us also call them false
Christians and/or hypocrites.

Fair enough. It was well stated. I will be quite explicit and let's see if you can decipher it then. "Bible" believing christian only believe things that are in the bible. Is that true?
