2 Peter 1 = Deity of Christ.

2 Pe. 1:1 Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ,
To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:
2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,

Vs 1 Peter identifies Jesus as God and Savior,
vs 2 Peter identifies Jesus independent of God.

Outside the Trinity we have polytheism.

1) Does verse one show that the name Jesus is one of God’s names?

I say Yes.

2) Did you mean to say Jesus is “independent” of God?

Or would you like to change your statement.

Jesus is one of the three centers of consciousness who are within the being called God.
Jesus is Yahweh,
The Father is Yahweh.
The Holy Spirit is Yahweh.
Yahweh is the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus is one of the three centers of consciousness who are within the being called God.
vs 2 Peter identifies Jesus separate of God.

In your two statements...

Are the terms "the being called God" and "God" interchangeable?

In other words, are these two statements also true...
Jesus is one of the three centers of consciousness who are within God.
vs 2 Peter identifies Jesus separate of the being called God.

If not...

What do you see as the difference between "the being called God" and "God"?

You are one being with one center of consciousness. They are two separate items. Your self consciousness is not physical. Your body is physical. God is a spiritual being with three centers of consciousness which are also spiritual. You have four nouns. God, HS, Son and Father.
  • God= what.
  • Three persons= who.
  • Essence -is properly described as that whereby a thing is what it is; the essence of a thing is that which is expressed by its definition.
  • Existence - whereas the essence gives an answer to the question as to what the thing is, the existence is the affirmative to the question as to whether it is.
    • God is eternal, existence is of the essence of God,
    • Essence and existence are identical in God.

Ummm...

Do you remember when YOU SAID THIS earlier in the thread...

vs 2 Peter identifies Jesus independent of God.

Are you now saying your statements were FALSE?

Peter NEVER identifies Jesus as separate of God.

That is a great passage to support Jesus as our God and Savior .

Which manuscript reading should we choose? Whichever one you cherry pick for yourself?

Not based on one manuscripts but The Textus Receptus/Majority Text, the Bible of early Eastern Christianity. Later it was adopted as the official text of the Greek Orthodox Church. It was also the Bible of the great Syrian Church; of the Waldensian Church of northern Italy; of the Gallic Church in southern France; and of the Celtic Church in Scotland and Ireland. The Textus Receptus is based on the vast majority (90%) of the 5000+ Greek manuscripts in existence.

Cherry picking manuscript readings isn't going to amount to reliable evidence is it?
