The reservoir water is being depleted partially due to increased housing and agriculture use while simultaneously enduring the impact of climate change with precipitation in the form of rain instead of snowmelt*. Toxic dust in the form of mercury, arsenic, selenium, antimony, and zirconium become a problem for lungs blowing from the lake's past basin is a critical concern now since the water that normally suppresses its distribution is no longer available.
