“No soul ever fell away from God without giving up prayer. Prayer is that which establishes contact with Divine Power and opens the invisible resources of heaven. However dark the way, when we pray, temptation can never master us. The first step downward in the average soul is the giving up of the practice of prayer, the breaking of the circuit with divinity, and the proclamation of one’s owns self sufficiency.” (Ven. Fulton J. Sheen)

Prayer to whom; God, Mary, saints, or all the above?
Therein lies the problem. It's hard to take Catholics seriously when they talk about prayer, knowing they believe God is only one person on a list of possible people to pray to.

As an aside, I always thought Fulton Sheen looked like Dracula.

Dracula--you are right! Not Bela Lugosi, but one of the later versions...Christopher Lee? I will see if I can find a picture of him as Dracula....

Yes, that one! I was on my phone and could not post the picture. I was going to try later using my laptop. Thanks!

Isn't Sheen the dude who said "To go deep into history is to cease to be Protestant."? Or something similar? Well, I have gone deep into church history and doing so made me want to be Catholic even LESS than I had originally wanted to be, which was pretty close to zero.

“Criticism of others is thus an oblique form of self-commendation. We think we make the picture hang straight on our wall by telling our neighbors that all his pictures are crooked.” ― Fulton J. Sheen, Seven Words of Jesus and Mary: Lessons from Cana and Calvary

well; ---------------------------
The kingdom of heaven is likened unto
a man which sowed good seed in his field:

Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Isaiah 29
Give ye ear, and hear my voice;
hearken,
and hear my speech.

24 Doth the plowman plow all day to sow?
doth he open and break the clods of his ground?

25 When he hath made plain the face thereof,
doth he not cast abroad the fitches, and scatter the cummin,
cast in the principal wheat and the appointed barley
and the rie in their place?

Isaiah 29
And in that day shall the deaf
hear the words of the book,
and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity,
and out of darkness.
.
They also that erred in spirit shall come to understanding,
and they that murmured shall learn doctrine.

"To go deep into Scripture, is to cease to be RCC"
as proven by
Martin Luther
the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man,
seeking goodly pearls:
Who, when he had found one pearl of great price,
went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
which resulted in the Reformation,
and coming out of Rome

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net,
that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:
both good and Bad fish
[/INDENT]
now about those
Prayers of the ""Saints""" in Rev. 5:8
And when he had taken the book,
the four beasts and four and twenty elders
fell down before the Lamb,
having every one of them harps,
and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.
9 And they sung a new song,
saying,
Thou art worthy to take the book,
and to open the seals thereof:
for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood
out of
--- the Sea the net cast into
every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests:
and we shall reign on the earth.
