Any predictions for the Saturday rally to support the Jan 6 rioters?

There will be a rally in front on Congress to demand justice for the people charged and arrested for their roles in the Jan 6 attack.
The organizers insist there will be no violence, that they want to protest how unfairly those rioters have been treated, claiming they are political prisoners.

The DC and Capitol police are planning ahead in case there are problems. They are putting the fencing back in place around the Capitol, and expect to have the National Guard and police of local jurisdictions on standby.

Congress is not in session.

I do not know if there is much information on the organizers, and the fact that hotel reservations have not shot up suggests this might be very tiny. From CNN:

The rally is being planned by "Look Ahead America," a nonprofit led by former Trump campaign staffer Matt Braynard. The group is "dedicated to standing up for patriotic Americans who have been forgotten by our government," according to their website.

Baynard said in a recent interview with CNN, "This is a completely peaceful protest," and that "we have told people that when they come, we don't want to see any messaging about the election, we don't want to see any messaging on T-shirts and flags or signs about candidates or anything like that."

Still, at least one Proud Boys leader has encouraged followers from across the country to show up, though others online have discouraged attendance and warned it might be a false flag operation designed to trap supporters.

Meanwhile, "White Lives Matter" is advertising global demonstrations for September 18 and has been supportive of the January 6 insurrectionists online, but it does not have a DC chapter.

many individuals may also see September 18 as a "Justice for Ashli Babbitt" rally, which could be cause for concern, and it's not unreasonable to plan for violent altercations.

There have been additional discussions of violence associated with the event, with one online chat suggesting violence against Jewish centers and liberal churches while law enforcement is distracted that day.

Previous events organized by this group have been small and uneventful, and while that is likely to be the case with this one, there is always the possibility that events could spiral out of control. We'll see.

My prediction is it will be a whimper of a protest.

I am inclined to agree with you.

I think what happens will depend a lot on the number of people who turn up. If it is a small protest with a few hundred people it will probably remain peaceful and be a bit of a non-event. However if there are larger numbers of people who turn up things could get out of hand and turn a little nasty.

The main concern is that it seems there will be satellite demonstrations planned in multiple cities that might not be under the control of the same organizers. If some white nationalist groups are involved in those, there could be some unpleasantness.

Yeah AOC will hide under her desk even though she is no where near it. Then she will whine on television how traumatized she was and we'll have more evidence that the left in America is a weak minded intellectually lazy group of wingnuts.

Agreed. Most Republicans have condemned the insurrection. The right-wingers on Carm, that support the Jan. 6th terrorists are the lunatic fringe of the lunatic fringe.
It looks like 15 percent of Republicans support the Capitol riot, which supports your claim. It is alarming that so many people support it though.

Well how about that Georgia Senator who was filmed frantically helping to barricade the doors of the Senate chambers against the rioters, but when it was all over, he said they were no different from normal tourists?

His televised comments were perfectly in line with reality, right?

I guess you don't like the idea of a young, non-caucasian woman being successful and in a position of power.

Never let creating a crisis from a rally go to waste, lefty.

You need to parlay this into another vast right wing conspiracy you lefty ladies are fond of...lol

And RWers are always surprised when their side is described as misogynistic.
Why would that surprise me?

Aren't all right wingers racists, bigots, xenophobic, gayophobic, deplorable dog faced pony soldiers?

I'm afraid you've run out of insults, but the "vast right wing conspiracy" lives on in you.

Insults? No, facts. All you have to do is see what policies and programs Republicans support.
Who voted against the Violence Against Women Act?
Who objects to the Voting Rights Act?
Who objects to SSM?
Who wants to deport DACA Dreamers?
Who thinks victims of rape and incest should take those pregnancies to term, even 12 year old victims?
