Atheists cut the branch they sit on

Despite being over a decade behind in the space race against the Soviets, the US landed on the Moon first with a manned mission, and so far the only one. A total of twelve men have landed on the Moon, all Americans.

This is a 1960's USSR propaganda poster, bragging how there's no God up there in space. All science comrade, praise man's genius. They were beating those Yanks easy.

Of the Moon landings, Luna 2 of the Soviet Union was the first spacecraft to reach its surface successfully, intentionally impacting the Moon on 13 September 1959. In 1966, Luna 9 became the first spacecraft to achieve a controlled soft landing, while Luna 10 became the first mission to enter orbit.

US astronauts read from the Book of Genesis to the world while their first crewed mission orbited the Moon in 1968. In 1969 NASA was first to land on the Moon with human crew.

The commies never did. They steadily declined as a country and were decommissioned by God just 20 years later.

"The gift of mental power comes from God, Divine Being, and if we concentrate our minds on that truth, we become in tune with this great power. My Mother had taught me to seek all truth in the Bible." - Nikola Tesla

Now Americans are out there on the streets wanting communism, atheism, praising man instead of God. Christians already know how prosperous that's going to be. There's nothing new under the sun.

But maybe it wasn't 'real socialism'. Maybe the US will get it right and new space exploration era will begin, just like in Sci-Fi movies. The darn Christians are holding everyone back from progressing and evolving into übermenschen. We'd have brains in vats driving flying cars by now.

Being a non-theist doesn't entail any socio-politico-economic positions. The National Liberation Army is based in part on Christian Liberation theology. Capitalism relies on the profit motive to reach material prosperity. Capitalism has its own holy day and has distorted religious holy days.

Here's one of the most well known proponents of capitalism:

Yes. And your point is?
So the Soviets failed to violate a treaty with the Americans, under which the Soviets guaranteed that Americans would explore the moon, and the Soviets would focus on Venus and Mercury.
You really want to attack the Soviets for keeping up their end of a treaty?

In the middle of the country, there is a Kansas Cosmosphere. It has actual authentic Russian and American spacecraft.
They tell the stories of the communists who crave validation in space, sports and propaganda.

Are you saying...are you saying that the USA got to the moon because of Jesus and not secular science? Really?

I can't. I can't do it anymore....

Wow, what an intellectual mess! Like trying to make a meal out of stuff scooped from the garbage disposal.

Is it ok if I praise man for eradicating smallpox? God didn't seem to want to bother.

The thing I find most entertaining about this mess is how it completely ignores the failures of capitalism and God. What's the deal with covid, can't two or more Christians get together, agree and ask God to end covid? Scripture is clear.
Intelligent people see through this nonsense.
Cute memes tho brah. did you think of them yourself?

I've met plenty of Christian commies, whose faith and belief in social justice are inextricably linked.

There is a very large segment of the atheist / skeptic community that tends towards libertarian free market fundamentalism.

Conclusion: there's no necessary or even particularly strong connection between atheism and socialism

If there's any US community which has given Russia and its associated socio-economic system room for co-existence, it's the conservative right. They're the ones happily cheering on our so-called president's blasé / friendly attitude towards Putin. They're the ones who dismiss Russian aggression towards this country. They're the ones who change the subject whenever talk comes around to Russia supporting and aiding today's white house occupant.

Of course, not all Christians are conservative, just as not all conservatives are Christian - but the two generally go hand-in-hand.

If Russian communism is so bad, perhaps Christian conservatives should take a long, hard look at themselves.
