People that are into works of the flesh think they are helping God out, giving Him a hand dishing out His wrath. They do not believe God is love. I see God's love throughout the teaching found in scripture in many forms. Parts of the Bible even refer to God as love itself. Love could be explained as wanting the best for someone, and that's exactly what God intends for us. God loves you simply because he loves you. You don’t have to work for his affection. You don’t have to set yourself straight before God can pour out his love over you.

“God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”—Romans 5:8,

That's why he was on his way to Damascus. He was a early prosecutor of early Christains.

It's a good thing... A merry heart is one who is always rejoicing in the Lord. No matter what is going on around us, we can choose to rejoice in the Lord- in His goodness, in His faithfulness, in His love. To Have a Merry Heart, Meditate on the Word of God. It's in the Bible :

Proverbs 17:22​

A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

Proverbs 15:13​

A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is crushed.

Ecclesiastes 9:7​

Go, eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a merry heart, for God has already approved what you do.
