So far it's been shared on this board that water baptism is symbolic by one poster, while another poster claims that if you believe in the promises associated with baptism, then you will partake of the blessing in Christ.
Another poster emphatically shared that provided you have faith, water baptism takes away sin.
Yet another poster says it is the means whereby you become the the recipient of the new life in Christ.
Some clarification in the matter couldn't hurt, give a brother a hand.

Keep in mind that John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus. Acts 19:4

God is the truth teller. If someone misunderstands His word by refusing to receive or accept the perfect immediate context in which it was given then the problem is with the person who does such a thing.

What is obvious is the promise of God is greater than the opinion of His creatures who misunderstand Him or who oppose Him.
