Keep in mind that John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus. Acts 19:4
Salvation is by grace through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— Eph 2
Obviously if a person has not repented, turned to God, to be belong to another, to Christ Jesus who was raised from the dead, such person is fruitless, dead in transgressions and sins.
If Christ has not been raised, your faith is mere delusion [futile, fruitless]; you are still in your sins.
But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those [baptized unto His death] who have fallen asleep. 1 Cor 15:17-20
He chose to give us a new birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created James 1:18
We ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, eagerly for our adoption to sonship; Rom 8:23
Stand Firm In The Faith
But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. 2 Thess 2:13
