Board problems

What are you using? Safari? Firefox? Google Chrome? Something other?
I'm on a PC, and I use Firefox, Chrome, and occasionally Opera, and I have never experienced any of the reported problems. I do not have any problems posting at all. I also have a Mac laptop, and use Firefox on it, and have never had a problem on that, either.

One thing that does not work is being notified by email when someone posts to a thread I am following. Occasionally I'll get an email, but most of the time I do not. Also, when I went to register last summer, I about gave up because I tried three or four times and never received the email I was supposed to receive to complete the registration. I tried one more time, and it went through. And no, they were not in spam. They were simply never sent.

Still broken. I've been having to log in and out for every post for two months now, and even then some posts won't go through, even when broken into separate posts. It sure would be reassuring to know that the problem is at least still being actively worked on, if that is in fact the case.

Browser Console: "Some cookies are misusing the recommended “SameSite“ attribute"
I think they are two different - though possibly related - issues.

The problem with certain "killer" words is relatively rare, but it started first, maybe a couple of months earlier. For some reason the software just decides it does not like a certain word, even though it is a common word you have used plenty of times elsewhere. I guess it has happened to me a dozen or so times, and seems more likely when I copy-and-paste from another web site, but I think that is just because the post tends to be longer.

I have similar problems. I keep the site open on two different tabs. As soon as I get the oops message, I switch to the inactive tab, log out, log back in then switch back to the original tab. When I do that, I retain my place on the site, including any posts ready to post, and the problem is fixed. For a short while. Like you, I would like some assurance that the problem is still being worked on and what progress , if any has been made. It's been a long time now

Seems to be significantly quieter here (in the Secular section where I post anyway).

I wonder if this issue is putting people off posting. A forum needs a "critical mass" of posters to keep it interesting for people to keep coming back. I am worried CARM will lose that and will dwindle into obscurity.

Not sure why this issue can't be fixed, but there's probably going to be an entire overhaul again soon.

I was trying to post for the first time and got this “oops” message that seems to be the subject of this thread. I’m using Safari on iPad, and I noted someone earlier said they were using the same thing with no problems.

ETA: obviously this post went through, but not the longer post I tried in another forum. Nothing I did made the oops flag go away.

Not sure why some have problems posting and some don't. I use BRAVE browser and have not had any problems.

I use Edge, but have gotten the error message on one thread only on the Mormon board, when I try to post something. Even if it isn't that long, when I break up the post into 3-4 separate posts, I can usually post them, then.

I have put up with the problem since it started weeks ago. There's been no change whatsoever, whatever actions are being done behind the scenes. I work around by having two versions open at the same time. When oops strikes on one, I switch to the other, log out then log back in. I can then resume on the original board without losing anything I've already written. It's a pain. It's completely amateurish. It inhibits spontaneous conversation and is damaging to the brand. But if those in charge of the forum are willing to accept that, who am I to argue?

I noted that the board was down for maintenance yesterday. The issue with posting had still not been resolved. when I tried to post earlier, but just now it seemed to be okay. I did happen to open a new tab before posting. I guess we will see what happens with this...

Quietly optimistic.

When I just logged in, it went straight to the Cloudflare checking page without me having to log out and log in again.

Keeping fingers crossed.

I think it is a hack that does the logging in automatically that we were doing manually before. It is better, but it is not a complete solution; if you spend too long writing a post, you will still get the old behaviour.

Yep. Just come here to report exactly that. It's better, but no cigar.

Matt is aware of the problem with the error messages and posting problems and is working on it. I'm not sure what browsers are having problems, I know Chrome and firefox were, but I've been using the Brave browser and am not having any problems posting nor getting any error messages. I don't know if that will help anyone who is using Chrome or firefox or any other browser that isn't working right for CARM, but you can give the Brave browser a try until the problem is fixed.
In the doctrine forum / sola scriptura you said

“Do not drag up old
Dead threads”

And closed the thread to further replies.

Is it permissible for me to start a new thread on the subject of “sola scriptura”? And if so what forum should be in?

Thanks

Yes you can.
