Checkmate, atheist!

Then why wouldn't you accept a Correspondence game where each player is given say One Day for each move? You'd only need to make 1 move within 24 hours of your opponents last move.
I suppose I would, I've just never played with that specific time control before.

@Lt. Columbo, I sent you another challenge on Lichess. The format is exactly the same - standard Correspondence chess with no time limit and sides assigned randomly. You may accept or decline as you please.

I am working today, so I may not be able to play straight through the game in 20 minutes like we did last time.

Gentlemen, I just had an idea: If you are reluctant to play normal chess, I could play with a handicap.

A handicap in chess is when one player starts with either less time or less material (i.e., pieces) than their opponent. I do not think Lichess supports starting with less time, but if you would like, I would be willing to play without a Queen or whatever would make you comfortable.

Just a thought. I completely understand if you're still unwilling to play.

Okay Torin. I'll have to spend more time on my moves this game though, so I hope you have patience.

Anyone for chess? :)

I play as Torin_3 on Lichess, which is a completely free online chess site. You can send me a challenge if you like.

It needs to be either a Correspondence game (no time limit), or a Classical game (30-ish minutes each). I probably will not accept the challenge otherwise.

(I will not actually say anything like "Checkmate, atheist!" if I win. The title is solely an attention grabber. I believe in good sportsmanship.)
Would you accept a game from a complete amateur? I know the rules but that's about it!

I'm not particularly interested in playing anymore.
I appreciate the offer.
And I wouldn't want a handicap. It takes the fun out of the game.

The physics student I'd played in 1999, we stalemated because I let a move pass. Had I taken the move, I would have won.

At one point in the late 90's, early 00's, I almost bought a 3d playing board-- Star Trek version. I decided not to because I no longer had anyone to play with. As I grew older I just lost my interest.

And, FWIW, I did buy the 1990's version of Chessmaster. I think it was 5500. I played a couple games on it and wasn't really pleased with it. There's just something about a real board, and pieces... strike it up to growing up in the 60's....

I am currently playing correspondence chess with two CARMites, both of whom are doing a competent job. If anyone else here wants to play, feel free to pile on.

Pinging some other CARMites on the off chance they are interested in a casual game:

@Nouveau @Dizerner @Whateverman @5wize @The Pixie @jonathan_hili @Algor

No pressure, of course. :)

And everybody else is welcome too!

Chess...doesn't that involve three innings and a puck? I never did figure out what the designated hitter did either. Something about a royal flush?

Anyhow, chess was never my game. I prefer...uh....banging my head into a wall. Something where I can remember the rules....

Seriously, I used to play, but a 12 year old whupped me so badly not too long ago it's just too painful. Thanks for the invite, though. Appreciated.

My apologies! I did not intend to abandon it, I just lost track of time.

You were winning anyway, so I happily concede.
Hard to believe that anyone could lose track of time during the most important chess match of the decade, if not the century. Inconceivable.
