many thank God that they were adopted into His family. This is based on a word that appears 5 times in the Bible, one being Romans 8:23 That declares we Christians are waiting for the "adoption as sons"(one word in Greek). which is the redemption of our body
Christians often use this adoption as a synonym of being born again, though it is clear that we "wait" for the adoption, so we cannot claim to HAVE BEEN adopted. To the contrary it says "we HAVE BEEN born again" Past tense. We were born again, we will receive the adoption.
In addition to that, the 23rd verse states what it is: "the redemption of our body"
I have read that the gentile culture they were in, probably the Greek, used this term to refer to the time a male child was put into his father's business. The boy is already a son, just not in a particular position.
Some translations take this Greek noun and translate it as a verb to make it "make more sense"
