Defending Christianity from Christians

Are we Christians our own worse enemies? It sometimes looks that way. Some critics of Christianity have pointed out that there is no Christianity (singular) but actually "Christianities." Christian sects number in the ten-thousands many of these sects denouncing many other sects as "cults" full of phony ignoramuses hard at work for the enemy. Of course, if any Christians are untrue believing in false doctrine, it is almost always some other Christians who are so--never we--oh no.

In any case, unbelievers have a field day over all this infighting. They say we are all confused over our own Bible and theology without even realizing it. They point out that this Christian vs. Christian fighting has destroyed the lives of many Christians. To them we are fools who kill and maim for no good reason.

So does Christianity need to be defended from Christians? It sure looks that way to me. I'd recommend that we Christians be a bit more tolerant about our differences and be more willing to recognize our common ground.
Naaaaahhh. Differences show who is and is not approved. There is no real infighting amongst the approved. Edifying one another is simply sharing gifts with one another according to each one's instrumentality. We grow wiser for it.

Proverbs 9:8 Do not rebuke a mocker, or he will hate you; rebuke a wise man, and he will love you.

Ever experience those ones? They profess to be followers and as soon as you show them with scripture something isn't right with their doctrinal belief, they deny the obvious truth and then try to put scripture against scripture as if God is a house divided. Then mock and run around in circles continuously mocking the very word of truth! It never occurs to them, that to rightly divide the word does not mean against itself. God is not the author of confusion but of peace. Rightly dividing the word means knowing what the verses actually mean and applying them appropriately. They are not Christian.

They are, however, wolves in sheep's clothing-(using the title of Christian). Jesus is the Man there is a war going on out there and He did not come to bring peace but a sword! Everyone wants a piece of the Man that is why there are so many haters and phony shepherds.
Matthew 10:33-35
The Sword of the Gospel
33But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father in heaven. 34Do not assume that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35For I have come to turn ‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.…

Some who say they are Christian will always be shown to not be approved:
1 Corinthians 11:
Sharing in the Lord's Supper
17In the following instructions I have no praise to offer, because your gatherings do more harm than good. 18 First of all, I hear that when you come together as a church, there are divisions among you, and in part I believe it. 19And indeed, there must be differences among you to show which of you are approved.…
What does Paul mean by this when other parts of scripture say be likeminded?
1 Peter 3:
8 Finally, all of you, be like-minded and sympathetic, love as brothers, be tenderhearted and humble. 9Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.…

Philippians 2:1–4
So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

The division is from Christ who separates and exposes the wolves in sheep's clothing- (Using the title Christian). The like-minded will hear a voice of the household of God.

The wolves actually betray and hand Christianity over to destructive sects and are in essence Judas's. They taste heavenly things but are for personal gain. They recline at table with believers professing to believe, but their actions speak louder than their words. They plot behind your back with their "good intentions". How does that saying go ?...... " the path to hell is paved with good intentions". Point is, Judas's think they have a better way. They deceive with kisses and make deals with your enemies with "good intentions". They presume to know better than the Lord when the Lord is clear about what is to be followed-Him. They always return to their own vomit like a dog. Their final state turns out worse than when they were first found. Why? Because the unapproved know what the Truth is but still think their "truth" is the better way. So, as Pilot said, "What is truth?" Christians know for this reason their Christ was born and no loyalty to any other will be accepted.

Christ said: "
Jesus the Good Shepherd
…13The man runs away because he is a hired servant and is unconcerned for the sheep. 14I am the good shepherd. I know My sheep and My sheep know Me, 15just as the Father knows Me and I know the Father. And I lay down My life for the sheep.…- John 10:13-15
John 8:46-47

The Children of the Devil
…46Which of you can prove Me guilty of sin? If I speak the truth, why do you not believe Me? 47Whoever belongs to God hears the words of God. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”

There are so many (for instances) when a believer speaks with ' the pretenders' . We meet them along the way at crossroads. They are the passersby professing to know Christ with their doctrines but when put to the test, are found to simply be self-serving Judas's not interested in truth. For they will profess one part of truth- in part, but when confronted with all they must uphold they reject it for some denominational loyalty or some doctrine they self -approve. Truth is truth, and that means all of it. For half a truth is the greatest lie of all- it is meant to deceive. Bold faced liars are recognized as such, deceivers on the other hand will speak some truth and malign the rest. That is in essence to reject all truth really and they will do it with kisses.

So, after all that said, do you have anyone person/group in particular you're thinking of that is a "pretender"?

I quoted Paul, who rightly attested that there is nothing in common with those who are united in Christ and those in opposition.
As a matter of fact, we have at least one perfectly delusional poster on this board who's working real hard to malign the way of faith and claims that Paul is a false witness.
These workers of iniquity are doing harm to themselves.
The Lord is a shield for those who do right. But destruction will come to the workers of iniquity. Prov 10:29
They will say ‘We ate and drank in Your presence,"..
But He will say, ‘I never knew you, ...Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.’ Luke 13:26-28

As our beloved brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. ...and since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the wicked and fall from your secure position. 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen. 2 Peter 3

And yet, some are unreasonable and are inclined to run amok claiming to be perfect and oppose the gospel.
May the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified,...and may we be shielded from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith. 2 Thess 3:1-3
But what does that have to do with how Christians differ regarding the role of works in salvation? I don't see how a position on that issue determines who is "in opposition."
It's cut and dried. On one hand you have those who believe in Christ and are made alive spiritually and on the other you have those dead in their transgressions blabbing about how perfectly delusional they think they are.
You might not be able to do much about others who work iniquity, but you can do much about any works of iniquity done on your own part...
It's important to understand that those who ate and drank in Christ's presence whom Christ commanded to depart from him were very confident of their own righteousness.
On your own part you don't know what you speak of. If they relied on their own righteousness, they would have no part in Christ's resurrection.
Not having a righteousness of my own, but that which is through faith in Christ—that I may partake in His death and resurrection;
Jon, it looks like you may need some work.
“The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” John 6:29

Invariably all those "pretenders" are always somebody else.
That is how the story goes. Did you know there is a way to test if whether or not a person is a true Christian? There is something that one who has blasphemed the Holy Spirit or is a Nephilim that they just cannot say. See, even devils can say Christ is the Holy One of God, they know He is God and call Him Son of Man which means God born as a man. But there is a hidden mystery that reveals what the unholy cannot say. It is the test put forth as Ark of the New and Everlasting covenant. See, God had to give the Elect a tool to prevent entry, acceptances of pretenders. With the end of the age it will be especially useful because the theif has sown a most corruptible seed amongst the wheat. It happened because everyone who is not anyone for God has fallen asleep.

God is not the God of the dead, but of the living, Luke 20:37-38
Abraham believed God who gives life to the dead...he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.”
And this righteousness, that makes us acceptable to God is for all those who believe in God, Who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead,...Rom 4

He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again...
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ Jesus; 2 Cor 5

If you don't know probably not Elect. Better yet, see if you can follow: It has to do with the Holy clean spotless conception (Immaculate conception) of Christ and His Incarnation
1John 4
Testing the Spirits

1Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. For many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2By this you will know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,
Jesus came in the flesh? Whose flesh? This is not complicated. See, it is the confessing of the New Ark of the New covenant. Whose flesh did Christ come in? This is easy if you have the Holy Spirit. How is He called Son of David? And do you know who were the two to first do the Confessing? See, John knows Christ is God in order for Christ to come in the flesh, whose flesh did He come in? I'll help, whose flesh did you come in? You are who you are by lineage because of what? Now since Christ had only one flesh parent whose flesh did He come in for His flesh? Now where is this confessing in scripture? If you can willing say it you have not blasphemed the Holy Spirit and do not come from a Nephilim blood line.
3and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and which is already in the world at this time.
Verse 3 is not separate from verse 2. when you understand 2 you are doing the proper confessing of Jesus.
4You, little children, are from God and have overcome them, because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. 5They are of the world. That is why they speak from the world’s perspective, and the world listens to them. 6We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. That is how we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of deception.

This gives new meaning to:
Matthew 7:22
A Tree and its Fruit
…21Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ 23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness!’…

Clearly, anyone can say Lord, lord and even say Holy one of God just like demons and devils
Mark 1:

Jesus Expels an Unclean Spirit
…23Suddenly a man with an unclean spirit cried out in the synagogue: 24 “What do You want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are— the Holy One of God!” 25But Jesus rebuked the spirit. “Be silent!” He said. “Come out of him!”…

See, even unclean spirits can call Him the Holy One of God. But they will not do is this:
Luke 1:28
The angel appeared to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”
Luke 1:42-45“Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!

Evil spirits will not Confess these verses they are gall to them. Why? because it exalts the elect Woman as mother of God Incarnate and fulfills the Genesis 3 promise.
43And why am I so honored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44For as soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. 45Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord’s word to her will be fulfilled.”

If you cannot confess this outwardly before all or simply within yourself, you have been cut off from the spirit of God, His spirit is not with you, like the Lord is with Mary.

Romans 1:
16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, then to the Greek. 17For the gospel reveals the righteousness of God that comes by faith from start to finish, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”…

It began with her yes for you and all called to be the Lord's. Can't cut her off because she is the beginning of the gospel. Prove that wrong!

Don’t let what the prophets said happen to you: wonder and perish; for I work a work in your days, a work which you will in no wise believe if one declare it to you. Acts 13:39-41
Jon, you have no idea how to discuss the doctrines of works and faith.
Even so then, at this present time, believers are saved according to God’s grace. And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; Rom 11:5
I will then move on.
Suit yourself but take heed lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief; Hebrews 3:12-14

It seems like "special secret knowledge", not unlike gnosticism which claimed to possess an elevated knowledge, a “higher truth” known only to a certain few.
It is a special enlightenment that only God can reveal in you Himself, and few who find His way to be like Him and have His same knowledge of all things concerning Love, Holy Love, or Holy Spirit it is called in the book.

See Gen 3:16, even Adam receieved this secret knowledge that only God Himself can open in you. See Matt 3:16, He did the same in Jesus and opened Himself to Jesus. He did the same in Abraham, Moses, 120 and in me to have His elevated knowledge, the mind of Him.

In that you will become like Him as well as all of these we read of where God came and opened up who He is in them. He does the very same today in us all who will receive from God Himself His hidden knowledge and open to you everything that was hidden.

Jesus went as far to say that in that day ye shall ask me noting but go to the Father for yourself and He will give it you. That information is hidden from you isn't it and the reason you question God about that special knowledge.

So does Christianity need to be defended from Christians? It sure looks that way to me. I'd recommend that we Christians be a bit more tolerant about our differences and be more willing to recognize our common ground.

God has allowed Christianity to become a free for all....

So that after the dust settles?

Only a few of the many will stand free. And, will be proven worthy of the eternal rewards God will bestow.

God will not delegate His authority in His Kingdom unless they have proven themselves worthy.

Remember... If only ten righteous were found in Sodom the Lord would have spared the city. God is not looking for large numbers.

For, it only took one God to create all that has been created.

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad
is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.
But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

Many will follow after too much of what is proven false, and settle for it, thinking its good enough.
Only a few will have the desire and willingness to suffer as needed to gain the prize of reward for what
God offers and desires for all believers.

For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine.
Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number
of teachers
to say what their itching ears want to hear."
2 Timothy 4:3

Many sects and denominations are to be found as Paul predicted.

Many many are saved. Only a few out of that many who are saved are chosen to reign with Him.
Many will not reign with the Lord. Now is the time for testing the volition of all, to see who will qualify
for the honor of crowns that God will grant with great joy to a few only.

So when Paul called Peter on the carpet, ( Gal 2 ), should he have followed the opening poster's
recommendation "that we Christians be a bit more tolerant about our differences" ?

For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. 21 For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. 22 But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: “A dog returns to his own vomit,” and, “a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire.” 2 Peter 2
