Ellis Defence must make RCs so proud

RCs must be so proud that their institution is all talk no action. It is using a defence which Pell was behind to avoid payouts to victims. It is discussing becasue Pell knew that Ellis had been abused but pushed the RC lawyers to do everything in their power to destroy Ellis. After the Royal Commission he even apologised to Ellis. But RCs apologies are worthless.

The Ellis defence emerged out of a 2007 NSW Court of Appeal judgment that prevented an abuse survivor suing the Church because it was not a legal entity.
Survivors have long complained about the Church using the Ellis defence, and in 2018 the Victorian Parliament passed legislation that required unincorporated associations like the church to nominate an entity that is capble of being sued.
But lawyers for the Archdiocese argued that legislation did not apply in this case because the father of the choirboy was not the primary victim of the alleged abuse.
The father's barrister, Julian Burnside QC, disagreed, arguing the 2018 legislation applied to both primary victims and their families.
"What our learned friends' submission amounts to is this: if the victim of child abuse dies then the family has no remedy, they have no-one they can sue," Mr Burnside said.
"Now that's plainly wrong in our submission."
Justice Michael McDonald has reserved his decision on whether to excuse the Archdiocese.

The RCC can say sorry all the like to whoever they like but they do not act like Jesus towards their victims. When will the RCC make their penance to the victims of their sinning leaders? These people who are using every thing they can to afford pay outs are part of the sin. They show the numbers are not small, the revelations and coverups reveal there are many leaders who are part of the sins.

Again we see an orgy-nization devoted to defending its personnel against all outsiders, even if they are supporting members thereof. It's a shame that the RC laity are so enchanted by their churchmen that they refuse to see what happened with Ellis could happen to them.

That's the thing: the RCC was in on it.

Even many lay Catholics knew what was going on, and did nothing about it.....because their denomination is the most important thing in their lives.
In the Royal Commission in one country town it was the talk in the pub. RCC knew it was being talked about and still just moved them around from parish to parish. This is why I will not accept RCs saying it is only a few bad apples (so to speak) everyone who knew and did nothing are part of that sin. The bible is clear those who know and do not expose sin become part of the sin.

It is shows that the sin is continuing and the RCC does not follow Jesus. Jesus would care for the victims and He would do His best to look after them. But the RCC is more interested in protecting its image (not sure how they think denying the victims compensation is going to do that), more interested in protecting the evil leaders, more interested in burying the truth and moving on.

Many devout Catholics have told me they would even prefer it be kept silent and abusers protected if such monsters confessed it in the confessional.

Even if it was their own kids being molested.

They would rather their kids be continually molested and raped by an RC priest monster than someone come out and reveal what that same monster spewed in the confessional.

The willing participation among much of the leadership and laity in order to protect "Mother Church" is nothing they will ever be able to explain away by appealing to "bad apples." This sickness is native to their religious system.

Then they take communion from these men's hands and they confess to them etc.
