An aion just refers to duration
Everything has an aion. Some longer some shorter. Jews had a belief in two overarching ages one finite the other infinite
This present evil age and the age to come.
The age to come is the era of eternal life
and certain durations are stated to be without end
Luke 1:33 (KJV)
33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
Forever is eis tous aionas - literally to the age - it has no end
