and the argument being addressed concerned the meaning of dead which you have done nothing at all to prove

You assume dead like Lazarus but the bible never associates the story about Lazarus with soteriology
On the other hand is the prodigal son
He was dead separated from the Father
Luke 15:24 (KJV)
24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.
Reunion with the father is making alive of the son who was dead
corresponding to lost and found
The church at Sardis was dead and told to repent
Revelation 3:1 (KJV)
1 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.
Eph 2 after speaking of being dead in trespass goes on to expound
Ephesians 2:11-13 (KJV)
11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in with the flesh made by hands;
12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
spiritual death is separation from God due to rebellion
being made alive is being made nigh
Other than that trust is not ascertained by what one wants but what the word of God says
