Federalism Is Our Way Of Government

Federalism is what the Founders had in mind when they established our government in the late 1700's. They put together a constitution that the Federal entity had limited and defined powers and that all other powers not delegated to that Federal entity belonged to the states and to "the people". Unfortunately, in the last century and a half we have gotten away from that concept where the Federal government has given itself far more powers that the Founders would have ever envisioned.

This has in the main been propagated by one political party, the Democrat Party, (though some Republicans also are on board) and that has resulted in a serious deterioration of liberty for the American people. We must return to the vision of the Founding Fathers before it is too late, and the monstrosity that is the Federal government must be destroyed for the good of all the people.

Our first Constitution was the Articles of Confederation which set up a weak federal govt and delegated most powers to the individual states. It failed after only 10 years and was replaced with our current Constitution that set up a stronger federal govt.

There is no such party in America called the "Democrat Party".

There are many powers of the federal govt that cannot be reassigned to the states without causing chaos as shown by the failure of the AoC.

Republicans want to establish a North Korean-type autocracy with Trump as their God King.

Watch as the poster is in high dudgeon over the use of the word Democrat Party when anyone with a brain knows exactly which party is being talked about. Some people seek out something to be offended about.

Stronger but still limited federal powers.

The influence of the federal government has drifted over the last century and a half, but this is nowhere close to justifying its destruction.

If the Federal government was truly operating within the confines of the Constitution and under Federalism, it would be at least half the size it is now. A big problem for Federalism as far as I see it was the passage of the 17th Amendment which gave us the direct election of Senators. This turned the Senate into a super Congress which then subjected each individual to a political process that consisted of them being subject to outside big money interests.

Before that, each Senator was appointed by the state legislatures, thus giving the individual sovereign states more of a say in the Federal government operation. If the appointed Senator did not conform to how the state wanted them to act, they could be recalled immediately. The direct election of Senators bypassed this important idea and gave each Senator a six year window to perform whatever mischief they chose to engage in.

What exists now needs to be destroyed and returned to the way it was and ought to be - a government that truly acts within it's constitutional parameters.

If you want your opponents to treat you with respect and engage in rational discourse with you, address them by their actual name rather than one made up as an insult. From wikipedia:

The term Democrat Party is an epithet for the Democratic Party of the United States, used disparagingly by the party's opponents. United Press International reported in August 1984 that the term had been employed "in recent years by some right-wing Republicans" because the party name implied that the Democrats were "the only true adherents of democracy".

You would be fine if we consistently referred to your party as Repugs, or another insulting name?

Given that so many Red States, and a few Blue States are gerrymandered so the legislature is not actually representative of the electorate, then having that legislature select Senators would give minorities in those states inordinate power.
