Interesting that you ignore the second half of that verse. \

It says he who believes and is baptized will be saved. He who does not believe will not be saved.

If baptism is necessary for salvation, then why doesn't He say "He who is not baptized will not be saved"?

Unless you're willing to be honest and cite the whole thing, I'm not interested.

I accept your concession.
He did not concede anything, when he wrote "See above. Repent." Perhaps a trip to the optometrist is in order....?

Yes, indeed. I don't know that much about it, but can ask my husband. I imagine it would be up to the Seminary.
It is okay. I think a difference will be based upon the individual's experience and education, e,g., a pastor of 20 years in a Lutheran church vs a student at a non-Lutheran seminary.

She went lesbian first.
This is a very good start.

If he/she went lesbian first, what did he/she think that entailed? A lesbian by definition is a female who is sexually attracted to a female. Is Megan Rohrer male or female? When it says 'they' how many of them are there?

He or she's testimony is that he/she is going to heaven, so who does he/she say isnt?

“So much of my life is spent talking about people wondering if I’m a sinner,"! I thought we all were. Is he/she saying he/she isnt?

All very confusing

I asked my husband. He said the gentleman in question is hoping to go the colloquy route, which would take 1-2 years, depending on what the leadership at the Seminary says, as to how many courses he would need to take, and how many credits he could transfer, and how many years he was a pastor.

Correct, but they share the Catholics' belief that water baptism is how people become saved in Christ.
It isn't just "water" baptism, but water WITH the word of God. And that is ONE way to become saved in Christ Jesus. Jesus comes to us by word and Sacrament--Baptism and the Lord's Supper.

is there effectual saving grace in the elements then?

No. Didn't I say that on here earlier? Water by itself has no salvific properties. But for whatever reason, Jesus has granted the forgiveness of sins through water WITH THE WORD (Eph. 5). Just pouring water on us or being dunked in water won't cleanse us of our sins, any more than a Hindu bathing in the Ganges river can receive spiritual cleansing that way. It is the word of God working THROUGH the water in Holy Baptism that grants forgiveness of sins to the recipient.

A sinner receives the Holy Spirit when he trusts in and receives Jesus as lord thru faith. correct?
