Former believers are still saved, because He still abides in them
2 Timothy 2:11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: 12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: 13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
Paul gives an example of a former believer for why that foundation laid by Jesus Christ cannot be removed just as that seal of adoption is not going anywhere.
2 Timothy 2:18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some. 19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. 20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. 21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
This is why Jesus is denying professing saved believers for being workers of iniquity in Matthew 7:21-23 & Luke 13:24-30 because any work of iniquity is really denying Him. You do not have to be a former believer denying Him verbally to be denied by Him, but for being a unrepentant worker of iniquity is why saved believers can be denied by Him as a reprobate which is to be disqualified to attend the Marriage Supper in Heaven.
Titus 1:15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. 16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
Former believers are still saved for why they are still to be called to go to Jesus Christ at that throne of grace for help to see the truth to expose the lies so they can depart from iniquity and with His help, be set free and kept free from any sins that got a hold of them so they can walk in the light in fellowship with the Father & the Son.
As His disciples, and by the grace of God & His help, we are not to condemn anyone as not saved or not a true Christian, because they are still His for why we seek their good in the Lord to be that vessel unto honor in His House which is the eternal glory that comes with our salvation by departing from iniquity that led them astray.
2 Timothy 2:10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.... 24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
