There are respectable and respected journalists working all over the world for a variety of respectable and respected news outlets and media companies. There are also kooks, liars, fraudsters an morons publishing totally ridiculous stories on the Internet. I am content to get my news from the former. The kooks etc. contradicting them tend to reinforce my opinion that they are right.

Gender is a construct of society not biology. I can imagine you enjoying the company of toadstools, but fungi aren't known for their social structure. Humans on the other hand are. Given that society, not biology determines gender, there is no theoretical reason why there shouldn't be any number. It would all depend on how they were defined by the society concerned. Do you have the definitions of 100 genders to hand? Do you have a link to the supposed story you are quoting? Do you have anything at all beyond misplaced ridicule?
