You see even the lexicons oppose the “ I “ in tulip .

Calvinists believe in Irresistible Grace which is a specific Grace God works in those purposed for salvation from before the world began. We believe that God appointed a time, within the timeline of creation, where the Holy Spirit would regenerate those purposed individuals such that they no longer perceive Christ crucified as foolishness but perceive him as the irresistible wisdom and power of God for salvation. Because of God’s gracious gift of change in perception Christ has become to us the Power that motivates us to endure to the end so as to be saved and inherit eternal life. Those purposed for salvation are acting out what God is working in them. This is how God saves his purposed people from beginning to end.

Proverbs 16:4
The LORD has made everything for its purpose,
even the wicked for the day of trouble.

Acts 13:48
And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed.

Lexicons don't determine this, context of Scripture determines this.
Calvinists don't (necessarily) believe all grace is irresistible, or that irresistibility is something "inherent" in grace. We simply believe that there is a grace where efficaciously draws the elect, and this comes from Scripture.

I'm working on a post proving unconditional election right now.
We'll get to irresistible grace in time.

Writing productive and substantive posts takes longer than one-liners about "popcorn" or insulting Calvinists, or a 5-second quoting of a lexicon or two.

Since all men are not saved and Gods grace goes out to all men, Gods grace can be resisted.



Acts 7:51
“You stiff-necked people! Your hearts and ears are still uncircumcised. You are just like your ancestors: You always resist the Holy Spirit!


God the Holy Spirit can be resisted.



Hebrews 10:29
How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?

Here we see the Spirit of grace resisted, insulted, rejected and trampled under.


Hebrews 6:4-8
It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age 6 and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.


Here we have those receiving Gods grace sharing in the Holy Spirit of grace reject it. They have fallen away permanently from His grace and can no longer repent.


Psalm 78:17;40
But they continued to sin against Him, rebelling in the desert against the Most High. How often they disobeyed Him in the wilderness and grieved Him in the desert!


Here we see them in the wilderness rejecting Gods grace upon them and grieving God in the process.

conclusion: just 1 passage showing God can be resisted is enough to prove it is true. But as we see there are plenty of passages which prove man can resist God and His grace.

Since there isn't a lexical entry for "Trinity" in any lexicon, I guess you reject the Trinity, right?

You remind me of that scene from "A Few Good Men", where Bacon asks the witness where he can find "Code Red" in the Marine Corps (?) manual. Cruise came back and asked him where he could find where the Chow Hall was in the manual.

You assume that "all men" means "all individuals".

You also ignore (or are perhaps ignorant) of the alternative translation of the verse:

Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

This says "the grace ... hath appeared to all men",
not "salvation hath appeared to all men".

And even further, this simply asserts that salvation that "appeared" to all men, not that it was "given" to all men, or even "offered" to all men.

Since all men are not saved and Gods grace goes out to all men, Gods grace can be resisted.

Your doctrine in man made not in scripture since Gods grace can be resisted by man .

If not then by default your doctrine is forced upon man against his will . An unloving act by an unloving god. Scripture and the lexicons expose the false doctrine of IR in tulip . The same goes with your heresy of regeneration prior to hearing the gospel and faith / repentance which actually precedes the new life/birth .

Y'all may not; and I'm not interested in arguing what Pelagius really said, etc. Basically we all believe something 'like' this, since we all agree we need God's Help. Those who need help; are Helpless without it, right? It reminds me of when Atheists say Christianity is a 'Crutch'; what's wrong with that?? Even if a Christian's POV of Prevenient Grace is slight, they still need Grace's tiny Crutch...

If we need a Crutch after Faith, don't we REALLY need one before Faith?

As it turns out, that's not what Prevenient grace teaches. It teaches that prevenient grace is salvific grace, but that it can be resisted. But I'm sure there are many who have this misunderstanding, as I was one of them.

Y'all may not; and I'm not interested in arguing what Pelagius really said, etc. Basically we all believe 'something' like this, since we all agree we need God's Help.

I realize that there is not a big difference between the two, and that you have a purpose to try to show people that our positions are not as different as some want to think, and I appreciate that.

But what I don't understand is why Arminians feel the need to add their own "control", their own "choice", their own "decision" into the works, especially when the "choice" is so extreme as to be a no-brainer. And since we are God's children, why are we different than human children? Human children don't have the "choice" to go to school, the "choice" to go to Grandma's, the "choice" to go on vacation, the "choice" to go to the store if Mom has to, etc. etc.

And there is no explicit "free will choice" anywhere in Scripture.
It is always "implied".
They read "believe" as "CHOOSE to believe".
They read "come" as "CHOOSE to come".
They read "repent" as "CHOOSE to repent".
