Guiliani

What's the deal with Guiliani, is he losing his mind?
He was America's mayor after 9/11; he was a hero... What happened?

As mayor of New York, he had a relationship with a certain real-estate deal maker, perhaps you've heard of him: Donald Trump.
Apparently Guiliani doesn't get paid by Trump (this is a different arrangement than most people who don't get paid by Trump -employees, servers, etc).
So Guiliani is discrediting himself for free.
Unless there's more to the story.
Does anyone know what Trump has on Rudy? There's got to be something. There has to be something we don't know about, why else would you show up and embarrass yourself at a landscaping business for a press conference?
None of this makes sense.

Have you watched John Oliver's show Last Week Tonight? I highly suggest you start, because everything up to the current season is awesome.

He did an episode on Giuliani two years ago (IIRC), and the summary is as follows:

Rudy's always been this insane.

He's right, too. Giuliani was never right in the head, and was always a sleaze - even when 9/11 was the topic du jour.

Language and adult humor warnings apply. I don't expect such things would bother you, but they might bother some of the more religiously conservative people here, who shouldn't watch this clip at all:

Here's what's amazing to me that you people are so self absorbed that it never crossed your mind that people actually hate you and what you stand for. You actually seen to believe everyone is as stupid as a leftist.
LOL... Do you actually hate people just because they stand for different ideas to you?

What is it about "leftists" that makes you think they're stupid? What policies in particular do you think are so stupid?

No that would be you morons on the left.

You voted for a lying racist groping imbecile and his kamal. That's all the evidence we need of your stupidity.
oh, that's RICH!
A Trump supporters leveraging a character attack on Biden and Harris!?
that's hilarious. Such a disconnected, irrational statement.

So, you can't think of a single "leftist" policy that makes you think "leftists" are stupid?

It seems to me you just want to hate people for no particular reason - or one that you can't articulate. Oh, and for the record I am a political centrist - which means I think that both the left and the right have good ideas and bad ones.

So, come on, what are the ideologies that makes you hate people that are "leftists"?

Well, leftists want fair and equal treatment for all. That could be a very controversial position.
Let's see, leftists have ideas about how to address climate change... That could be divisive...
They tend to accept science as a tool for gaining knowledge...
Leftists seem to believe that healthcare is a basic right...

Is that why Republicans get attacked and murdered in the streets?

Let's see, leftists have ideas about how to address climate change... That could be divisive...

The Right has ideas about that as well.
And the Left doesn't seem to understand concepts such as "feasibility studies".
They just say, "Ban all gas-powered cars! NOW!"

The Left won't even ban leaf-blowers, the stupidest invention of all time, needlessly producing noise-pollution and CO2 pollution. So I'm not convinced the Left is serious about their position.

They tend to accept science as a tool for gaining knowledge...

<sigh>
Leftists love to insult the right, and assume that anyone who dares disagree with them is an anti-science moron.

And you wonder why the nation is so divided?

Leftists seem to believe that healthcare is a basic right...

In an ideal world, everyone would have perfect health care.
But we don't live in an ideal world.

And I don't know any reason why healthcare should be considered a "basic right", other than the left WANTS it to be so.

The problem with socialized health care is that you are stealing from people (through their taxes) to give money to people who made poor PERSONAL DECISIONS to become overweight, to maintain a poor diet, to spend too much money on poor-quality food instead of saving up, and refusing to exercise. I personally don't think it's fair or just to steal from people who make good decisions, to reward people who CHOSE to make bad decisions.

And yes, I know there are situations where someone gets ill through no fault of their own, and that's not "fair". But as my dad told me, life isn't "fair". But there other options for these situations, such as charities, community support, etc.

It seems to me that health care is more effective if it is maintained under the umbrella of capitalism, rather than socialism. Capitalism encourages technological advances, and competition, which brings costs down. Laser eye surgery is a great example.

Just because people aren't Democrat, doesn't mean they're evil.
Just because people aren't Democrat, doesn't mean they hate others.

Healthcare per head in the US is vastly more expensive than in the UK, and is worse. Except for the rich. We don't have anyone who is afraid to go sick because of the cost. We don't have the worry about insurance, pre-existing conditions, the cost of emergency care or hospital stays. Nor do we have a huge problem with addiction to prescription drugs. Yes our healthcare is paid for through taxation, and it is hugely popular, with everyone. During the nationwide lockdown in the spring, once a week the whole nation came to their front door to applaud our National Health Service and the work they were doing. Every street in every town or village. We are extremely proud of our nationalised health service. I cannot believe that anyone who has any experience of it would prefer your system.

Making it privatized will FIX that.

I'm Canadian.
We have socialized health care.
And it sucks.
Running it under capitalized system is FAR superior.

Same in Australia. I had to move to the US to experience "I have this medical ailment...can I afford to go to the doctor to get it seen to?" dilemma. Australian healthcare is better and far cheaper than the US'. The fact is that the US has the worth healthcare system in the western world.

I think that its difficult for us Americans to realize its not just about higher taxes; its about what you get for those taxes.
But there's this weird moral issue for some Americans who think it is wrong that their taxes should be used to pay for the lazy, poor-choice-making, fat slob's healthcare costs. Which is a gross, myopic failure to understand that hard working, healthy, good-choice-making people also get cancer or have accidents or whatever. -Its an argument that doesn't seem to apply to other American social programs like military defense, interstate highways, public education, police/fire departments etc.
Also, nationalized doesn't necessarily mean socialized -but that's another issue.

In 2019 I was in Sydney. One of my colleagues went to Bondi to surf. Early in the day, a surf board hit him in the side of the head, severely cutting his ear. He was taken to the hospital, had surgery and spent two nights there. When he rejoined the group, he said that his portion of the bill was about $1200 -as a foreigner... It was cheaper for him in Australia than it would have been in America with his health insurance.

I have many relatives in Canada. Also many that own winter homes in US.

So easy to compare quality of care.

Example. My cousin married a Canadian. She does tax returns in the winter in Dallas. Her husband got a brain tumor. So they had no choice but to stay in Texas for superior care.

Your dirty hospitals are famous for bed sores.

Reminder, jailers and jailbirds are NOT medical experts.
