Hi shnarkle,
I don't want to venture too off the subject of the tree of life. However, let's just note that all of the wicked are described as turning to ashes:
Malachi 4:1-3 (NKJV) “For behold, the day is coming, Burning like an oven, And all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble.And the day which is coming shall burn them up,” Says the Lord of hosts, “That will leave them neither root nor branch.
Since you judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life through Christ, we turn to the Gentiles. For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.” {AA 173.3}
“When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.” They rejoiced exceedingly that Christ recognized them as the children of God, and with grateful hearts they heard the word. Those who believed were zealous in communicating the gospel message to others, and thus “the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.”{EGW AA 173.4}
You will say then, “Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in.” 20 Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Rom 11
