How the abortion movement started with deceit and lies--Dr Nathanson

'There was only silence from the opposition. We fed a line of deceit,
of dishonesty, of fabrication of statistics and figures; we coddled,
caressed, and stroked the press
. (...) We were calling ourselves pro-
abortionists and pro-choice. In fact we were abortifiers: those who like
abortion. Let me digress and speak for a moment on the question of 'pro-
choice', as they euphemistically call themselves now. I reject that
phrase, that euphemism. It is misleading. It is dishonest.
It implies that
in the issue of abortion there is an ethical choice whether to have an
abortion or whether not to have an abortion;...Of course... abortion is
not an ethical choice.

Pro-choice is a dishonest euphemism

In the UK it was the MP David Steele whose bill changed the law to allow abortion in certain circumstances. From what I have heard he never supported the idea of simply the mothers choice. This development was the slippery slope.

Pro-choice abortion is a lie so its not much use arguing with people who believe in it

It still isn't simply the mother's choice. The Abortion Act requires two separate medically qualified people to determine that continuing the pregnancy will be more harmful to the mother than terminating it. Since pregnancy always carries a small risk, the virtually risk free chemical abortion used by most women in early pregnancy, is in effect the mother's choice. Later abortions tend to be for more substantive reasons, an inability to cope, foetal deformity etc. The Act works well, one of the most successful and enduring pieces of legislation in modern times. It has settled the abortion question in the UK for 60 years. No-one of any influence or standing has any appetite for changing it.

So if that is the case, it isn't the mother's choice at all then.

The statement "pro-choice abortion is a lie" makes no sense. Being a lie is the property of statements, purportedly of fact. 'Pro-choice abortion' is not a staetment.

We unashamedly lied, and yet our statements
were quoted [by the media] as though they had been written in law.'
(quoted in John Powell, Abortion: the silent Holocaust. Tabor, Allen,
Texas. 1981.)

'How many deaths were we talking about when abortion was illegal? In
NARAL (National Association for Repeal of Abortion Laws) we generally
emphasized the drama of the individual case, not the mass statistics, but
when we spoke of the latter it was always 5,000 to 10,000 a year. I
confess that I knew the figures were totally false, But in the "morality"
of our revolution, it was a useful figure, widely accepted, so why go out
of our way to correct it with honest statistics?' The official figures of
maternal death due to illegal abortion before abortion was legalised was
160. Dr Nathanson estimates the actual figure to be around 500 maternal
deaths per year. (Bernard Nathanson, Richard Ostling. Aborting America.
Pinnacle Books. New York 1979.)

160 actual deaths. We still have moms killed in abortion chambers.

So pro-choice is a lie as explained wit lh evidence and reasoning as opposed to your strange feelings

Of course it is. No-one is forced into having an abortion.
you described how the doctors make a decision and then say its the mother's choice. Not entirely is it. You havent thought your ideas through. Besides the mother had the choice to have unprotected sex ao whether you recognise it or not, that is the reality.
