Point of order. Being well educated does not negate idiocy. This goes for people with PhDs and ThDs.

Well said. I'd also add that before you talk to an atheist ask yourself, "why do I believe in God?" Many Christians do not do this and it is the first thing an atheist will ask.

I saw a pastor do this once. He was teaching his congregation how to evangelize. He brought someone up and said, "do you believe in God?" They said yes. He asked, "do you accept Jesus as your savior?" They said yes.

Then he asked, "why?"

It was amazing how many of his congregation faltered at that. They have been believers their whole lives. They are surrounded by Christians. They have never really stopped to ask, "why do I believe in God?" They have never had to because everyone around them also believes.

So take some time to think about your faith, think about why you believe The Bible, why you believe God hears your prayers, and why you believe Jesus died for our sins. It'll make that first conversation with an atheist much more productive
