I can't wait for this to happen. What could go wrong?

Except that the Christian Right would call it "The Mark of the Beast", and claim that voter IDs will be used to seize all patriotic Americans' guns when the New World Order comes to power. Or some such rubbish.
Yeah, funny that right-wingers would push for this universal voter ID. They said social security cards and UPC codes were the Mark of the Beast

You don’t feel it’s your duty to save them from their “dangerous” lifestyle? Or is that just trans people? We’re the butch? Have short hair? Where does lesbianism end and trans begin?

Most of the usual suspects here think your lesbian neighbors are going to burn in Hell for all eternity. And they think that’s a good thing.

As always, I can’t speak for anyone else, just myself. I can’t “save” anyone from their sin.

Why do you all think that the phrase “give them an inch and they’ll take a mile” came about anyway?

Slippery slope arguments aren’t necessarily wrong. In fact, they quite often prove to be quite correct.

The reason slippery slope is a logical fallacy is because it’s not NECESSARILY true that a person given an inch will take a mile. But vast human experience over every culture that’s ever existed on earth shows that very often, people who are given inches will try to take miles. So people are wise to be wary when people say, don’t worry, I’m only asking for X, I’m not asking for X+1 or X+2, etc.
Part of the answer can be determined by who wants what. Nobody wants to marry their toaster.

Just to clarify, I am not pushing for it. I’m just pointing out the blatant liberal hypocrisy of crying that voter ID laws are racist and unconstitutional, while at the same time in my town, liberals have implemented voter ID laws and don’t seem to have any problem with it whatsoever. of course the reason they want these ID laws in our town is so that when someone comes to vote, the ID helps them know that the person claiming to be joe Smith is actually joe Smith. It’s a way to protect everyone in our town’s vote. Pretty simple concept, and it should not be very controversial.

Agreed. As always, though I may be replying directly to you, the point I make applies generally, including to those who are unreasonable or stupid. And yes, there are some on both sides.

Remotely? You'll have to show that one again. I know cancer drugs can be targeted by chemical configuration, but they are triggered by a chemical response, not a remote frequency. I called the article a tad bit ingenuous, not you. It's not on me if it struck a nerve for you.
What ever....just as long as you feel safe.

have a nice day.

Are you saying there is no New World Order that wants to rearm Americans?

So your last post said that liberals don’t oppose voter ID laws as long as the ID can be obtained by ethnic minority people. And now you’re agreeing that requiring IDs constitutes a poll tax, which would make it unconstitutional. Can you please make up your mind whether IDs should or should not be required to vote?
I have no problems with voter IDs along as there is no cost involved at all, and they are easy to get. Why is that hard to comprehend?

The Gov of PA has decided to give voter ID cards to the people applying for drivers' licenses. A step in the right direction.

How many times have we had this conversation?
I do not pay close enough attention to know the nitty-gritty details of each posters' opinions. I prefer to address their comments as they make them.

There are plenty of occasions when posters make statements about my opinions and get them completely wrong.

It is controversial when the powers that be chose forms of IDs that minorities tend not to have, or that are inconvenient or expensive to get.

I’ve suggested to you in the past a system where the government literally gives the ID to the people and you still objected.

I don’t think voter ID is that big of a deal.

If the left has actual evidence of Republicans being involved in voter suppression, that is a pretty serious offense.
