It is a comedy only in the sense of being a comedy of errors. It seemed more like drama to me than a comedy. The solution turns out to be totally different from anything you are led to believe along the way. It has a more-or-less happy ending.

The big reveal happens when Blanc sits in the chair in front of all the knives arranged in a circle.


Hint: Marta is such a good nurse that of the two drugs she injects she can tell which drug she is holding without even looking at the label. She can tell just by the feel. The viscosity apparently.

But even after the reveal there are a couple things that remain unanswered:

1) What did Harlan mean by not knowing the difference between a real knife and a stage prop? Did Harlan predict how it was going to end? Did Harlan plan the whole thing out? That seems very unlikely to me.
2) What did it mean that Marta beats him at Go more than Ransom? Why did Harlan mention it to Ransom? Why do we not see this in the flashback?
