LDS, Can a Man Choose to Believe And be Righteous?

John 1:12


All have sinned and Romans Three desccribes them. A real dilemma confronts the sinner! He has no desire to be born again. Ephesians 2 explains what God does about that. Romans 6:16 tells us that His servants yield thenselves to obey Him! Sinners don't! Ephesians 2 reminds us that God gives us the new birth to save us from our sinful natures. And that not of ourselves!
Mosiah 3:19
19 For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his fathe
 
Everyone on earth makes choices, but because of the Fall, people are prisoners to a fallen nature.

Should we compare that witness--to the testimony of the scriptures?

Romans 5:18---King James Version
18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
