Mormons and others changing lyrics

I have long known that the MoTab likes to sing "Holy Holy Holy", despite the fact that it has anti-LDS lyrics in it.

Here is how the hymn goes:


Here's how the MoTab sings it (at least in a YT video from 2013):

Holy, holy, holy!
Lord God Almighty
Early in the morning
Our song shall rise to Thee
Holy, holy, holy!
Merciful and mighty
God in three persons
Blessed Trinity!

Of course, we all know that the LDS aren't going to sing about the "blessed Trinity".

So this is what they sang:

Holy, holy, holy!
Lord God Almighty
Early in the morning
Our song shall rise to Thee
Holy, holy, holy!
Merciful and mighty
God in His glory
Through eternity.


Well, I came across a similar problem when I just wrote a post quoting Augustus Toplady's famous hymn, "Rock of Ages". I quickly searched for the lyrics and copied and pasted this:

Not the labor of my hands
Can fulfill Thy law’s demands;
Could my zeal no respite know,
Could my tears forever flow,
All could never sin erase,
Thou must save, and save by grace.

And I'm going, wait a minute... Those aren't the lyrics I remember...
Here is how he originally wrote it:

Not the labor of my hands
Can fulfill Thy law’s demands;
Could my zeal no respite know,
Could my tears forever flow,
All for sin could not atone;
Thou must save, and Thou alone.


I really wish people would stop altering material that is NOT THEIRS.

Well these old hymns are in the public domain now and can be changed without permission. Sad, isn't it? I could see needing to change the lyrics to Holy, Holy, ,Holy in Mormonism....but why the ones to Rock of Ages?

Why would they change the words when it completely agrees with the Book of Mormon

They changed “Joy to the world, the Lord has come” to “Joy to the World, the Lord will come.” And then they changed it back in the 1980’s.

That's typical Mormon "Modus operandi" their distinct pattern or manner of working that enables them to continue in their deception of themselves and others.
