New Light

a god means--has godlike qualities--God did all the powerful things through Jesus( Acts 2:22) God created all things through Jesus( Coll 1:15-16)
God is the only one with the power to do them.
All those people died and paid in full the wages of sin, they will get resurrected and given an opportunity to learn and apply Gods will during that time. Plus they could read and understand many of Gods requirements showing him they cared what he thought. Here in these last days one must know truth.
Since this thread is about "new light", will you please answer the following:

I notice that the Watchtower Society teaches that the United Nations is the “scarlet colored wild beast”. What would you do if today you found out that yesterday the Watchtower Society actually joined the United Nations, and that it agreed to “support the work of the United Nations”? Would you remain in the organization? Would joining the UN mean that the organization had been “inspired by error”?

I already know they joined the UN for the purpose of access to their vast library. for no other reason. The bible teaches God gave men authority to rule in govt positions. And to respect their laws if not contradicting Gods laws, and respect to the leaders.

Thank you. But that's not my question. Here it is again:

Thank you for responding.

In 1992 people living then were like you. They "already knew" that the organization would never consider joining the United Nations, especially for such an insignificant reason as gaining access to a library (even if that were true). Can you imagine that? They had been saying for years that the United Nations was a disgusting scarlet wild beast, then all of a sudden the Society joined that "disgusting" organization.

What if you lived in 1992? Can you understand why witnesses might be upset when they found out that the Society actually agreed to support the work of the United Nations? Did the Watchtower Society really need access to that library that badly?

Was the United Nations a good organization in 1992? Did they cease being the "scarlet wild beast" in 1992? Is that why the Watchtower Society agreed to support that organization?

They joined to get access to the library--that is all.

The 1984 Watchtower contained the following: "No, the UN is not a blessing, even though the religious clergy of Christendom and the rabbis of Jewry pray heaven’s blessing upon that organization. It is really “the image of the wild beast,” the visible political, commercial organization of “the god of this system of things,” Satan the Devil. So the UN will soon be destroyed along with that beastly organization." Watchtower 1984 Sep 15 p.15

The Watchtower Society joined the UN in 1992. When they joined they agreed to “support the work of the United Nations”, yet they also considered the United Nations to be the “scarlet-colored wild beast”, and “a worldly confederacy against Jehovah God and his dedicated Witnesses on earth.”

Let’s assume that what you say is true – that they joined in order to gain access to the UN library. Are you saying that access to a library was a good enough reason for them to join the UN?

For one to question Jesus' appointed teachers is the same as questioning Jesus and God-Luke 10:16.) Jw,s support no political orginazation.
You need ask them yourself if an answer is what you seek.
Every form of govt on earth will be destroyed by Jesus-Dan 2:44--99% will stand for their govt against Jesus at the end-Rev 16. Mislead to give support( worship) to the image of the beast.

I’m actually thinking more about what you think, not what the Governing Body thinks. Apparently they must have thought that it was ok to join the UN even though they believed that it was the “scarlet-colored wild beast”, and “a worldly confederacy against Jehovah God and his dedicated Witnesses on earth.”

Are you allowed to have your own opinions? What do you think? Or would you risk being disfellowshipped if you disagreed with what they did? If so, then at least I think I understand your fear, even though I don’t agree with you.

They as well went into the Catholic Archives--an organization owned by satan as well. Not to do any service to either organization, but to seek information on facts. They came out of the archives with 100% proof that-- the spirit, water and blood are the 3 witness bearers. Catholicism translated-the Father, son and holy spirit in that bible passage. Truth is their only motive. God used the wicked to achieve his will in the bible.

In April 1970 the Watchtower Society published the Awake magazine. In it was an article titled Changes That Disturb People. Part of it was about how in 1966 the Catholic church no longer required its members to eat fish on Fridays. The article contained quotes from Catholics about that change. It quoted one man as saying “How can I believe in the Bible, in God, or have faith? Just ten years ago we Catholics had the absolute truth, we put all our faith in this. Now the pope and our priests are telling us this is not the way to believe any more, but we are to believe ‘new things.’ How do I know the ‘new things’ will be the truth in five years?”

Another person said ““All these years I thought it was a sin to eat meat,” explained a housewife in the midwestern United States. “Now I suddenly find out it isn’t a sin. That’s hard to understand.”

Here is another section of the article: “If you are a Catholic, can you understand how a practice that was considered by the Church a “mortal sin” can suddenly be approved? If it was a sin five years ago, why is it not today? Many Catholics cannot understand. When a woman in Canada was asked how she felt about the changes in her church, she replied: “I don’t know. Maybe you can tell me. What are they going to do with all those people sent to hell for eating meat on Friday?” Not just a few Catholics have asked such questions. The change in teaching has shaken their confidence in the Church. Would you not feel the same way if what you had always been taught to be vital for salvation was suddenly considered unnecessary? Would you not be inclined to question other teachings of your church also?”

Proverbs 4:18 (NWT): “But the path of the righteous is like the bright morning light that grows brighter and brighter until full daylight.” Does this verse apply to both Jehovah’s Witnesses and Catholics?

They dont support the work of the un, they joined to get access to the vast library. They dont support Catholicism, they went in to seek truth. JW,s give 100% support to Gods kingdom.

"Since 1946, the Dag Hammarskjold Library of the United Nations Secretariat in New York has arranged for the distribution of United Nations documents and publications to users around the world through its depository library system. At present, there are more than 400 depository libraries in over 140 countries maintaining United Nations material from the date of designation as depository to the present. The general public can consult the material free of charge at any depository library." www.un.org/Depts/dhl/deplib/deplibsystem.htm (as of 6th Sep 2009).

I don't answer for Jesus' appointed teachers. They will stand alone before judgement seat. I am 100% confident they have good reason to do anything they do. You can ask them on JW.org.

Thank you for responding.

Do you accept the fact that they had free access?
I trust them the same as trusting God and his son. Luke 10:16-- All men are imperfect, there is no perfection with imperfect men. If they made an error, they repented of it and moved on=exactly what God requires of imperfect men.
If they did make an error doing that, do you think it is worse than anything king Manasseh did who God forgave and returned him to his kingship? 2kings 21--He was extremely wicked. More than most. He sacrificed his own son to a false god. Shed much innocent blood. Amongst many disgusting false god worship crap. He repented. What a loving merciful heavenly Father Jehovah is.
