No it's not. If you were trying to protect yourself from a drunken abusive estranged husband and you felt that you needed a gun to do that, because he was a firearms enthusiast, you would be waiting 40 days in order to get a gun to protect yourself in the state of Maryland. If you were in real danger that's more than enough time for the very worst to have happened to you. These arbitrary laws prevent real people from protecting themselves in circumstances where they really need protection.It is clear that it is much harder to get an abortion or to vote than it is to buy a gun.
