You have a point there, I mean it's not like modern Christians actually obey a lot of the instructions in the Bible anyway.

Pshuh.

In this day and age?

Remaining unspotted from the world means you haven't gotten the measles yet.

James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

So how should those who commit adultery should be punished?

What about all the "New Age" types who claim to be witches? What should happen to them?
They should receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior....or spend eternity in hell with you.

I find it hard to consider God deceptive, when He said what He did, when He did it, where He did it, how He did it, why He did it, what order He did it in, how long it took Him to do it, why it took Him that long, and who the eyewitnesses were.
If you heard a story about a man named Man who lived in a place called Place, would you think that story was intended to be taken literally, or would you think that the book was written as an epic story?

And if someone honestly thought that the story was a literal newspaper-like report of an actual event, rather than the allegory it was clearly intended to be, would it be the fault of the person who wrote it, or the fault of the person who read it wrong?

The Bible states that god deceived Jeremiah. Some Christians do not accept the literal truth of the Bible, and so dispute this,

When the Bible says that God created the universe in 6 days, he wants to take it literally, even though common sense, not to mention science, tells us otherwise.

But when the Bible says that God deceived Jeremiah, he says, "Oh, that's not literally true. You're just not interpreting it correctly...."

And then he wonders why people don't take him seriously as a legitimate Christian scholar.
