What gives Catholics the idea that people can attain perfection in this world, with this earthly body?
Jesus commanded us to be perfect as his heavenly Father is perfect. What gives Catholics the idea that people can attain perfection in this world, with this earthly body?
That is a fact! So how do you accomplish that?Jesus commanded us to be perfect as his heavenly Father is perfect.
How many Catholics have disobeyed that commandment?Jesus commanded us to be perfect as his heavenly Father is perfect.
Scripture gives the answer. A question for you, which 'body' is John referring to here? What gives Catholics the idea that people can attain perfection in this world, with this earthly body?
Which Catholic said that? What gives Catholics the idea that people can attain perfection in this world, with this earthly body?
Yes that is great for knowing God. But does that mean we are perfect, without sin in our lives?Scripture gives the answer. A question for you, which 'body' is John referring to here?
1 John 2 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous, 2 and he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.
3 Now by this we know that we have come to know him, if we obey his commandments. 4 Whoever says, “I have come to know him,” but does not obey his commandments is a liar, and in such a person the truth does not exist; 5 but whoever obeys his word, truly in this person the love of God has reached perfection. By this we know that we are in him: 6 whoever says, “I abide in him,” ought to walk in the same way as he walked.
We all sin, only Jesus was perfect. However, we should never stop trying to achieve holiness as we go through our daily lives.Yes that is great for knowing God. But does that mean we are perfect, without sin in our lives?

Your desire is to obey the added unwritten uninspired RCC Tradition."but whoever obeys his word, truly in this person the love of God has reached perfection."
The inspiration of this statement is the desire to obey regardless of any other added logic of the mind.
But my question still stands. Can a person in this life achieve a sinless State? And if so, how?"but whoever obeys his word, truly in this person the love of God has reached perfection."

Can a person reach perfection, in this world, so as not to have to experience purgatory? We all sin, only Jesus was perfect. However, we should never stop trying to achieve holiness as we go through our daily lives.
Oh that is easy they ignore sin of people like their leaders and pretend that they are holy. They are blind to the truth and what the truth says about their institution. What gives Catholics the idea that people can attain perfection in this world, with this earthly body?
So when do you become perfect in this life? I have yet to met one perfect RC for a start. By the way the RC understanding is not the same as second temple Jewish understanding of the word.Jesus commanded us to be perfect as his heavenly Father is perfect.
My guess would be that you have just attended Mass and received Holy Communion, and that would put one in a holy state as one could ever be.Can a person reach perfection, in this world, so as not to have to experience purgatory?
We have already seen there is no agreement among RCs on this state of perfection in this life. But my question still stands. Can a person in this life achieve a sinless State? And if so, how?
Technically they could if they did a plenary indulgence just before death. There are also the Marian works that mean Mary will grab you very quickly out of purgatory. Can a person reach perfection, in this world, so as not to have to experience purgatory?
LOL seriously. That is why those priests could molest children after mass. And you can only guess on how to be perfect. My guess would be that you have just attended Mass and received Holy Communion, and that would put one in a holy state as one could ever be.
that sounds like a catholic answer. My guess would be that you have just attended Mass and received Holy Communion, and that would put one in a holy state as one could ever be.
