In Acts chapter 8, we read that the Samaritans believed the Gospel but had not received the Spirit. But it seems there are some here who want to insist that these Samaritans had actually received the Spirit BEFORE they believed and not when Peter came down and laid hands on them.

How many agree the Samaritans had the Spirit before Peter bestowed the Spirit?

According to God's inspired word: they believed, were baptized, then received the Holy Ghost.

Acts 8:14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
Acts 8:15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
Acts 8:16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
Acts 8:17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

I don't think the Samaritans had the Holy Spirit at that time, not because they shouldn't have, but because God was going to use them as an object lesson in His building of the church. In every instance the Holy Spirit came down was to show that the group of people in question, were also a part of the body of Christ, who would, just like the Jews, have access to Jesus/God through the same Spirit, the Holy Spirit. This is a special situation that has no need to be repeated. It was a once, for all time showing by God, that all peoples, to include the Samaritans the Jews hated, are a part of the same church.
