The Immaculate Conception

Mysterium Fidei

December 8th is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception in which the Church celebrates the dogma which states that the Blessed Virgin Mary was preserved, in the first instant of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege of God Omnipotent and because of the merits of Jesus Christ the Saviour of the human race, free from all stain of original sin.

The Blessed Virgin Mary is the Ark of the Covenant and was to be the dwelling place of the Word made Flesh, True God and true Man, and could, as a consequence, have no divine hatred or malediction, no stain on the soul, could never be in a state of non-justice or spiritual death, or under the subject of the empire of Satan, or subject to the law of concupiscence, or under the penalty of the common sin.

These effects presuppose the loss of the sanctifying grace, but the Blessed Virgin Mary is God's most perfect creation and is loved more by Him than all the saints and angels combined.

In the Bull, Ineffabilis Deus, Pope Pius IX states: "From the very beginning, and before time began, the eternal Father chose and prepared for his only-begotten Son a Mother in whom the Son of God would become incarnate and from whom, in the blessed fullness of time, he would be born into this world. Above all creatures did God so loved her that truly in her was the Father well pleased with singular delight. Therefore, far above all the angels and all the saints so wondrously did God endow her with the abundance of all heavenly gifts poured from the treasury of his divinity that this mother, ever absolutely free of all stain of sin, all fair and perfect, would possess that fullness of holy innocence and sanctity than which, under God, one cannot even imagine anything greater, and which, outside of God, no mind can succeed in comprehending fully."

Ora pro nobis, sancta Dei Genetrix!

Mary was not conceived without original sin. ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God--Mary included. No exceptions in the Bible are mentioned--except Jesus Christ.

Was she a wonderful lady? Absolutely! And we should love, honor, and respect her as the mother of our Lord. But beyond that we should NOT go.

Matthew 11:11 NASB95 — “Truly I say to you, among those born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptist! Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

Mary' quote:

Luke 1:47 NASB95 — And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.

IF she was sinless, why would she need a Savior?

That last question has been asked numerous times on here, with no good answer, though I am sure their Roman masters have managed to spin that. Also, Mary didn't say she was blessed ABOVE all women, but blessed AMONG women.

ONLY Protestants render unto Mary, Jesus Mother, the reverence and honor called for as she carried out her ministry.

Catholics, particularly ROMAN Catholics, have made her into a totally mythical being, usurping that worship and honor which belongs ONLY to Jesus Himself.

Hi Bob! :) Yes, you hit the ol' nail on the head! I have said repeatedly on here that Catholicism has made a gross caricature out of the gentle maid of Nazareth, elevating her to a height only God belongs in!

December 8th is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception in which the Church celebrates the dogma which states that the Blessed Virgin Mary was... free from all stain of original sin....
Not a single word from scripture, Jesus, nor his apostles about sinless Mary.

2Cor 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
2Cor 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Heb 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
1Pet 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
1Pet 2:22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
1John 3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

Not a shred of this is found in the bible. No one thought mary was sinless. This is a wicked man proclaiming a sinful human to be something shes not and forcing compliance from the faithful at the same time. Thats what cults to.

Yep so you celebrate a false teaching. The Latin doesn't change that fact.

Spot on

If Mary was not fully human, if she was super human, then it would affect Jesus being fully human. She was a normal nice Jewish teenager. She obeyed God but she was not perfect as RCs understand it. She was perfect as Jewish people understand that term.

We know the only sinless person was Jesus. We know for Mary to be born without the so called original sin, her parents and her line would also have to have been born without the so called original sin. For Mary to be a real example, she needs to be fully human just like us othewise she is an impossible example for us. RCC has made her superhuman, a goddess and put her on a pedestal. Mary was humble it would embarrass her to be treated like an icon.

Mary is to be respected her taking on what being Jesus' mother meant. She would have been the talk of the gossips, because of her being pregnant, she knew that Joseph could have dumped her and he nearly did. She would not have foreseen the heartache she would have to face being the mother of Jesus. But she did what God required of her. She was with her son as He died for us.

...

"I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel."

Her seed is Jesus,
Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Not a single verse which states Mary was sinless;

She most certainly was.
ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God--Mary included. No exceptions in the Bible are mentioned--except Jesus Christ.
All is a general term. Mary being an exception to the verse---does not undermine the general principle that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

In the second place, Mary is under the law like all of us--and like all of us needs a savior. We aren't asserting that Mary didn't need a savior.

Correct: we should not go beyond what is revealed about her. The problem with your statement is that you assume that what Catholics believe goes beyond what is revealed about her.

The Blessed Virgin Mary's closest relations are literally the Holy Trinity. She is the spouse of the Holy Ghost, the beloved daughter of God the Father and the Mother of God, Jesus Christ, God and man. Nothing defiled could be permitted to enter, even for an atom of time, into the creature that was thus predestined to contract such close relations with the adorable Trinity.

The Feast first appears in the Catholic liturgy in the East during the 6th century (about 1000 years before the first Protestant sect) and in the West in Spain in the 8th century. Paul, the Deacon, Secretary to the Emperor Charlemagne, and afterwards Monk at Monte-Cassino, composed a celebrated Hymn on the mystery of the Immaculate Conception.

The Eternal Father would not do less for the Second Eve than he had done for the First. Yet she was created, as was also the first Adam, in the state of original justice, which she afterwards forfeited by sin. The Son of God would not permit that the Woman, from whom he was to take the nature of Man, should be deprived of that gift which he had given even to her who was the mother of sin.

Shame on you for noticing that, PG! :)

She most certainly was.

Prove it from the Bible. In the entire Bible, only Jesus was without sin.
All is a general term.

All means all.
Mary being an exception to the verse---

Prove it, from the Bible.
does not undermine the general principle that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

ALL, including Mary.

If she were sinless, she would not need a Savior--and she rejoiced in her Savior.
Correct: we should not go beyond what is revealed about her.

Which the RCC has done in spades, going far beyond what the Bible reveals about her. Shameful.
The problem with your statement is that you assume that what Catholics believe goes beyond what is revealed about her.
Which is 100% true. The Bible has zero hints about the 4 Marian Dogmas. They are all made up.

Where are the scriptures which speak of Mary as the spouse of the Holy Ghost, Mother of God, Immaculate Conception, Second Eve???
