There's been a ton of theorizing about why Christians in America are overwhelmingly support a remarkably unChristian president. I'm going to add to it:
Epistemology.
The technique for supporting a belief in something which can't be shown to be true - is exactly the same as the technique for supporting on obviously incompetent / dangerous politician. The person has to surround themselves only with people and information which reiterates the mantras, and reject everything which doesn't.
Call it tribalism if you want, but there's more to it. Reiterating ideas about sin and salvation helps keep those ideas alive, in the forefront of the believer's head. Reiterating the idea of our current so-called president draining the swamp keeps him in that same place. Claiming God hears and answers prayers eventually makes the idea seem more correct than it sounds; claiming ****** is going to make America great again does the exact same thing. A tribe isn't needed for either of those two things, but when you mix the two, it's a powerful combination.
Epistemology is roughly defined as the method used to determine what exists (or what is true).
Mantra is how Christians maintain their belief, and how ****** maintains his support. Saying something often enough until you believe it. Truth is created rather than revealed, which is seen in many Christians' consumption of fake news.
