The Simpsons and the Death of Parody

Ok, about 7 minutes into this. I already dislike some of the spin - of the nuclear family (in sitcoms) primarily being an ideological tool, of the presentation of authority figures as problem solvers in the same medium being filling the same role, etc. While I'm going to keep watching this, the narrator (analyst?) seems to be forgetting shows like All In The Family and Sanford and Son, where authority figures were far from the ideal, where dysfunctional families didn't take center stage, where - even though the shows stood on their own - there wasn't always a simple formula of Problem-Humor-Solution.

It seems to me this analysis is grossly over-simplifying a complex arena...

ps. still watching...,
