True non canonical prophet

Is anyone to your knowledge using the writings of Judas and Silas today? Perhaps Philips 4 unmarried daughters? "THE BIBLE" explicitly says that Philip's 4 daughters were prophets, "THE BIBLE" also says Judas and Silas were "Prophets". Where are their writings / teachings?

More opinion.
  • Show me in the Bible where this premise is even remotely hinted at. You can't so you won't.
  • I'd even be willing to see where you find this premise promoted in the writings of any popes. I'm surmising you're just making stuff up as you go.
How is it you're willing to elevate the words of a fallible pope to the authority of my infallible God with no biblical authorization for such fantasy?

The Bible says that the gift of prophecy is left for the church. It never says that this gift has a "use by" date on it. For you to lovingly embrace your pope with zero biblical support and reject the gift of prophecy--which is full of biblical support--doesn't bode well for the choice of which path you're taking.

1,
David is Canonical Prophet - he has continuing authority BECAUSE HE's canonized....
...If you don't consider Ellen White Canonical why are you still using her writings as if she's equal to David?

More opinion.

At what point was David "canonized"?
On what biblical criteria is it determined what qualifies as being "canonized"?
If you were to discover the writings of Gad or Nathan (or any other prophet mentioned in the Bible who is mentioned as having written books) do you suppose that their writings would not immediately be added to the canon of Scripture? Your methodology is flawed, primarily due to being based solely on human conjecture and not on the Word of God.

2,
Catholics don't set aside Scripture in favor of traditions contradictory to the Bible. SDA's have done this with the traditions they got from Ellen White - specifically concerning the Personality of God and the Peccability of Christ.

Oh my. If the following does not qualify as Scripturally antithetical tradition then what do you call it?
  1. Veneration of angels and dead saints
  2. The mass
  3. Worship of Mary
  4. Extreme Unction
  5. The doctrine of Purgatory
  6. The kissing of the pope's feet
  7. The worship of the cross, images and relics
  8. Holy water
  9. Celibacy
  10. The Rosary
  11. The Inquisition
  12. The sale of indulgences
  13. Transubstantiation
The list is massive and mind-boggling. For a Catholic to come along and try to explain why prophets should be rejected while at the same time embracing the nonsense of their own silly extra biblical traditions is the height of irony.

Your opinion is noted, in your personal authority.

AV Eph 4:11-12 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

Are there still "apostles" in "the body of Christ" in the church today ???

Yours in Christ, Michael
No , not in the same sense as the OT Prophets/NT Apostles

Prologue:
AV 2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Currently, we have one opinion in conflict with another opinion. There are many conflicts of opinions from scriptures.

Condemnation is not teaching of a truth, it is just judgment.

I consider Textus Receptus 1894 as reliable, care to go further than condemnation to teaching then ???

Yours in Christ, Michael
We do not hold that Joseph Smith, nor pastor Russell, nor Ellen White as infallible interpreters of the Bible!

If Ellen’s writings are not canonical, how can her writings correct the errors in interpretation of scripture made by others?

If Ellen’s writings are not canonical, why do our members seek to settle questions of Bible topics in our sabbath school classes by asking “what does Ellen White say?”.

They were operating in the gift of prophesy, but were not on the office of one!

No longer required with the canon was completed, and we know EW did not have that "gift", as her doctrines and theology conflicted with inspired scripture!

The Holy Spirit ceased to grant inspiration and prophecy after John died !

Wow. Opinion just flies forth without nary a consideration for how it contradicts God's Word.

Hi Formersda,

I think you might have misinterpreted my "late night" response... the use of the emoji was simply to indicate that I needed to get some sleep. I plan to respond when I have time, but I do have a life outside this forum. I will say up front, however, if it's your intent to try and convince me that God saves His people in sin and not from it, or that the 10 Commandments are not relevant to the Christian experience beyond conviction and/or justification, then that's a position that cannot be supported by Scripture and one which both it and I reject. Also, this is a discussion forum, and CARM is not the final arbitrator of what constitutes biblical Christianity other than as it pertains to their own opinion. I also don't find in Scripture where any of us has been given authority to determine what particular church is or isn't a part of the body of Christ at this particular point in time. Only the Good Lord has final say in that matter, and I'm pretty certain He doesn't need your, mine, or CARM's help in so far as His decision-making process is concerned; so until we speak again, please be at peace my friend in Christ.

What say ye Michael;
AV Mt 25:2-3 And five of them were wise, and five [were] foolish. 3 They that [were] foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:

Listen to the Holy Spirit !!!

About half of those listening to the Holy Spirit had enough Holy Spirit to be ready for Jesus' second advent.

Digest that spiritually !!!

Yours in Christ, Michael

AV Mt 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

I will be delighted to let Jesus decide that.

When man decides, what day is sabbath apart from GOD's Omniscience, murder from man of others will follow.

Yours in Christ, Michael

sabbath given to Jewish nation and people under Old Covenant, NEVER given to the Church under the New One!
AV Ro 2:28-29 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither [is that] circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: 29 But he [is] a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision [is that] of the heart, in the spirit, [and] not in the letter; whose praise [is] not of men, but of God.

So you will deny being a spiritual Jew then ???

Yours in Christ(a Jew), Michael

Jesus already judged the teachings of Ellen White as being abominations!
