One thing is for certain, we are not living in a free country. We are only given the illusion we are free. The illusion that we can vote. The illusion that we have access to information.

I was listening to an old speech from Julian Assange the other day, back before he was imprisoned. He talked about how they (the communist) used to ban library’s from having certain books and would even force them to tear pages out of books. But that way you could still tell something was missing. These days the archives are all centralized and digitized and everyone goes to the internet to find things. And the guardians of the internet archives is just a small group of people. If they don’t want something to be found, you will search and only find a 404 error. Page not found.

Censorship has become a REAL problem today. Combined with FAKE news and HATE for anyone that questions the narrative… it is a bad recipe for some Holocaust type behavior.

When they start calling grandmas domestic terrorist and enemies of the state, you know something is very wrong.

I guess some election deniers too. But that is because right-wing Trump Cultists proved to be so dangerous and violent.

Then you are assuming that, encouraging children to pretend they are in the wrong body, take puberty blockers and hormones is not grooming.
It most definitely is, and I would guess more widespread that with pastors and priests

Terrible that Franklin Graham was cancelled by many of the people wanting lgbt books. Has to be a level playing field, I say freedom of speech

So are you saying it’s good to ban certain people and certain ideas you disagree with, but it’s not good to ban people and ideas other people disagree with?

That ship isn't in the process of leaving the harbor; it set sail more than a decade ago. The right-wing and "common sense and freedom" aren't even in the same ocean any more.

As an aside, all this right-wing nuttery (as well as a lesser amount of left-wing fruit loopiness) is bringing out the libertarian in me. I read the story in the OP and think "towns should be allowed to do that". They should be allowed to ignorantly close down libraries if that's what they want.

Yes, it's a warning sign that fascism is a problem in this country. It also speaks terribly poorly of Jamestown's residents and politicians, and is a decision that will likely be reversed eventually; common sense and American values often have the power to undo partisan stupidity, albeit over the long-run. Still, a town's voters establish the town's values, and if one of those values is that LGBTQ shouldn't be advocated or explained in the local library's books, they get to make that decision.

It's their mistake to make.

Graham was “canceled” by right-wing Christians because his hypocrisy and sexual escapades with the pool boy became too much of an embarrassment
 
Those who lament the fact their deviant sexual ideology and narratives are being called out for what it is, getting push back due to the content and dissemination of their undeniable sexual deviancy and recruiting through grooming and then when you read or watch or listen to their rhetoric that believing, supporting and advocating there is a normal sexuality and an abnormal sexuality is wrong their narrative only proves how debased, immoral and depraved they have become.
