Depends if you are watching it as entertaining the flesh or being on guard with Him in rejecting the media that tries to sows to your flesh. To goes to your intentions or to your spirit for why you are watching something that can sow to the flesh which watching even Christian entertainment can do as well, when heresy is also a work of the flesh. Such films that show the heresy that we can follow Him by making a commitment or promise to do so is denying the faith in Him as our Good Shepherd & His promises to us that He will help us to follow Him. We either follow Him by faith trusting Him to do His work in us to help us to follow Him, or we are resorting to our own will power & thus the flesh. So, back to the Op......I still contend that willfully watching trashing, excessively violent and gory movies/TV, filled with sex and foul language is evidence of a child of God NOT having the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. If Jesus came to the house , rang the door bell, came in, sat on the sofa......do you think any child of God, especially one who claims to be a believer would continue to watch the vulgar action flick or TV show? Yet many of them think Jesus is abiding within them. Is He? Would He?
People can fast forward or close their eyes or look away from the screen when certain scenes are sowing to the flesh. Jesus will help them to know if they are unable to do that and it is their habit to not be on guard when watching, them He will help them to find something else to entertain themselves by, but they can continue to trust Him to let them know whatever entertainment they choose is sowing to the flesh or not by how it is being received as the intentions for watching media should be obvious to the saved believer. If not, they can ask the Lord to help them to discern especially when the intention for watching has changed when it starts sowing to their flesh like hatred or malice & not just lust.
Same thing with what we think. He will help us cast down wicked imaginations and help us to think on good things.
2 Corinthians 10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
Philippians 4:5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
Psalm 19:12 Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults. 13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. 14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.
There is a race to be run, not for salvation, but to be received by Him as that vessel unto honor in His House when He comes as the Bridegroom.
Hebrews 12:1Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
