What is the name of the son per Matt 28:19?

Please tell me what the name of the son is that Jesus was referring to in this verse....

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Thanks.

Yes, but not always because Jesus has multiple names. Besides, the words one uses in prayer are not formulaic. Christianity is not like paganism where the right words said the right way in the right order is necessary.

God Bless

That's because you are not a Christ follower. Those who follow Jesus follow his commandments. They don't make up stories about others avoiding the name of Jesus. They don't categorically refuse to use the words Jesus commanded them to use during baptism. They don't treat God like a magic genie who grants wishes when ever the right words are spoken.

BTW, serious commenters reply to what the other person said as opposed to grandstanding like this. Stuff to think about.

God Bless

I see that you ignored the article from CARM. It’s not about a reference to a salvation baptismal formula but a reference to authority. Simply reciting formulas with a misplaced faith saves no one.

Don’t forget that Jesus is the unique/one of a kind Son of God. Jesus is God in the flesh. (John 1:1,14) Keep that in mind the next time you downplay Jesus as the “Son of God.”

No, the article is incorrect.

Peter, per Acts 2:38, interpreted the name of the son that Jesus commanded them to baptize in as "Jesus".

How's that?

I know he is the only begotten son of God.

I also know that his name is not "son", but "Jesus".

In regards to authority. To baptize in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19) is to baptize in the authority of Jesus. Do you reject the words of Jesus in Matthew 28:19?

Remission of sins is not received through plain ordinary H20 or by reciting formulas. In Acts 2:38, "for the remission of sins" does not refer back to both clauses, "you all repent" and "each one of you be baptized," but refers only to the first. Peter is saying "repent unto the remission of your sins," the same as in Acts 3:19. The clause "each one of you be baptized" is parenthetical. This is exactly what Acts 3:19 teaches except that Peter omits the parenthesis.

*Also compare the fact that these Gentiles in Acts 10:45 received the gift of the Holy Spirit(compare with Acts 2:38 - the gift of the Holy Spirit) and this was BEFORE water baptism. (Acts 10:47)

In Acts 10:43 we read ..whoever believes in Him receives remission of sins. Again, these Gentiles received the gift of the Holy Spirit - Acts 10:45 - when they believed on the Lord Jesus Christ - Acts 11:17 - (compare with Acts 16:31 - Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved) BEFORE water baptism - Acts 10:47. This is referred to as repentance unto life - Acts 11:18.

*So the only logical conclusion when properly harmonizing scripture with scripture is that faith in Jesus Christ implied in genuine repentance (rather than water baptism) brings the remission of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Luke 24:47; Acts 2:38; 3:19; 5:31; 10:43-47; 11:17,18; 15:8,9; 16:31; 26:18) *Perfect Harmony*

This is what happens when you isolate a pet verse, build a biased doctrine on it and ignore the rest of scripture instead of properly harmonizing scripture with scripture before reaching your conclusion on doctrine. You are absolutely obsessed with Acts 2:38 and water salvation! :(
