Where were you on this day, 1980?

I was in the middle of my 2nd enlistment, serving in the Republic of Panama as an Military Police Sergeant.

I was a senior in high school in the Seattle area.

There was some even on this side. But we had the mountains between us and mount St Helens and only so much got over here.
We got the news about the eruption like the next day if I remember right. AFRTS (Armed Forces Radio & Television) wasn't a popular watching venue (one channel) except all us tough GI's watching General Hospital over Luke and Laura. Funny now to look back and remember what was going on in our lives on these momentous dates.
