Why Follow The Bible?

Through all the centuries the Bible has been hated and destroyed as no other book ever has. Probably more copies of the Bible have been burned than of all other books put together, yet today more people read it, more people own it, and it is translated into more languages and published in more copies than any other book. Why do millions read the Bible today, and millions of others in the past have even given their lives to make its message known?

Psalms 119:105
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Psalms 119:130
The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

2 Timothy 3
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Beautiful! Thank you Septextura! Amen!
The Holy Bible has made sinful lives good and worthwhile. Through the influence of the Holy Scriptures, man has come to know God and to be a help to others to come to know Him too.

Because the Bible contains an inerrant record of God's revelation primarily. But then there are so many reasons otherwise: the wisdom it imparts, its aid to help us developing a relationship with God, the historical record, etc. etc.

It is inspired of God, and in addition to saying that, it gives convincing evidence of really being inspired by God; for example many of its prophecies have already been fulfilled. Even Roman Catholic doctrine states that the Bible is inspired of God.

But not the full relationship, right?
ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! Roman Catholicism certainly does not teach that the Bible contains everything that it necessary to bring the Christian to perfection, that's for certain. The RCC cleverly ignores, or when hard-pressed will totally 'work around' these verses:

"All Scripture is inspired of God and is useful for teaching - for reproof, correction, and training in holiness so that the man of God may be fully competent and equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Christ-centered Christians need to add nothing else to bring the believer to this fully competent and equipped state.

You can't develop a full relationship with God just using the Bible because a full relationship with God involves many, many things, such as: prayer, love of neighbour, involvement in the Christian community, works of charity, etc. etc. You need orthopraxis as well as orthodoxy.

I'd also say that we will never have a "full" relationship with God but always one that is getting fuller and fuller and fuller.

Yet rc's seek to change it, undermine it, and discredit it. Why is that?

you can claim to have all of those things, but until and unless you are born again you have no saving relationship with God.

They don't.
yes they do. we even read it here every day posted by catholics. If you believe in and trust in His word why so much time and energy in proving His word to be wrong and that of the RCC to be right?

the same with all of the monks or priests (whoever) that spend so much time twisting and perverting God's word to support what the RCC teaches (ccc).

If you're working against Him, you aren't working for Him.
